 Saturday - Cloudy and rainy

I woke up around 9:30 this morning but didn’t get up until 10:15 or so. I got dressed and waited for F to get ready. He ran a little late, but nothing major.

We got to the doctor’s clinic and did a hurry-up-and-wait thing. However, I have to be honest, since the pandemic started, there haven’t been as many people just hanging around the doctor’s office as there used to be. I had a good book with me and time passed quickly. The doctor asked about the side effects of my vaccination, but since there weren’t very many, I didn’t have much to say. He did warn me that there would be more from the second one, but I already knew that.

F and I picked up our drugs afterwards and then went off to the car dealership. When we got there, we were surprised to hear that we couldn’t get the car back today!  F was given a loaner and is supposed to return it tomorrow morning. Of course, he weaselled out of going to Coco’s for lunch today. I suggested going to Nagomi, a Japanese restaurant that I actually like, and F was okay with that. We both had duck soba and shared an order of tempura.

I requested that we go to Starbucks after lunch and that’s what we did. We had a couple of Frappucinos and they were good. Mine was a bit too sweet though.

We came back to the house afterwards and we both took a nap. It was a nice way to spend part of the afternoon.

F woke up before I did and went out and got his mother a nice bento. He asked if I’d like to have yakiniku for dinner. After checking to see if he was serious, I accepted. I also suggested that he make a reservation since our favourite place is always very busy. He did, and we got almost the time we wanted!

We drove off to the restaurant when it was getting close in time and were seated immediately. I suggested getting a smaller mix than we usually get and then a few side dishes. F was okay with that.  We got the smaller kalbi set, then I ordered some chicken to go with it. We had a kimchi set with three kinds of kimchi (yum!), some egg soup, and a couple of oolong teas to drink. It was all really good. Even though we bought a smaller plate of meat, it was excellent quality and there was plenty for the two of us. We got some gojuchang, wasabi and yuzu kosho to put on our meats. We even got free dessert today so that was lovely!

We left the restaurant nicely full, not stuffed, at least not in my case! I requested that we go somewhere to buy some ice cream! F humoured me, so we went to the grocery store and picked up some ice cream.

We came back to the house and I suggested to F that we watch a movie. He said yes for a change. I had been keeping a movie on the DVR for him and tonight we watched it. It was a film called The Peanut Butter Falcon. It was a bit schmaltzy, but it was okay. F liked it a lot. During the movie, I did some work on F’s scarf and then wound up a couple of balls of the yarn into centre pull balls.

Since the film finished, we’ve just relaxed a bit. We had a bit of a chat about stuff, F’s making plans to take his mother out to the onsen tomorrow. I think she’d like that as we haven’t taken her very far lately. He’ll have to pick up his car first though.

And that’s about it for my day. It was quite a good one. I hope that tomorrow will be good too. Come back later and find out how it goes. Until tomorrow….
