Friday - Rainy then sunny, then…rainy again
The only reason I woke up this morning was that my alarm went off. It was so dark in the room, it looked like it was much earlier. I made my trip downstairs and then came back and watched the news on the TV. I turned it off when it finished.
I did a bit of snoozing/reading before getting up. When I did get up, I took down a load of laundry and put it in the machine. I grabbed my breakfast and brought it up with me.
When my laundry was done, I retrieved it and then hung it up. I relaxed a bit and watched a movie that was based on the life of the young Errol Flynn before he became a movie star. It was quite interesting!
I went down to get my lunch and I was surprised to see K in the living room. Lately, she hadn’t been in up when I get my lunch. I started to fix my lunch but wondered if she’d like something to eat. I asked her if she’d like some of the nabe leftovers and she said she would. I was heating it up when the doorbell rang. Ack.
I grabbed a mask and opened the door. It was F’s sister. She was on a work break and was just checking on her mother. I invited her in and went back to the kitchen.
F’s sister left after a couple of minutes and I waved goodbye. I took a bowl of nabe to K in the living room and warned her that it was hot.
I took my plate upstairs and ate my lunch. I had some leftovers from Tuesday and they were very good!
The rest of the afternoon went quietly. I swept the top of the stairs, just outside my door. I didn’t go much further as K was up in the living room and I didn’t want an audience!
I went downstairs around 6:00 and got a start on dinner. I did my dishes first and cleaned a bit around the kitchen. I also made a pot of coffee, decaf of course. I decided to start putting things on the table early as F was supposedly on his way back.
He didn’t get back for a while, and I had everything ready to cook. I decided that I was going to make two flavours of pasta tonight to use up some of our random packets of pasta. F finally got back but asked for some extra time to get ready. He had brought some flowers and some fruit back. I don’t really understand why Japanese people eat so much fruit! It drives me crazy. I don’t really like fruit if I’m honest. I’m sensitive to a lot of different fruits so I don’t really like to eat them.
Anyway, I got the pasta boiling in the pot, I cut the duck, heated it up a little, put it on the table and when F came near the kitchen I suggested that he go and have some coffee or something as dinner would only be a few more moments. He listened to me!
Dinner was quite nice. We had a bit of carbonara and pepperoncino flavoured sauces, salad and duck. K and F watched men’s ice skating. I really only watched the Canadian guy, but he didn’t do that well sad to say.
When we finished, I went back to the kitchen and cleaned everything up. It took a while, but finally, it was done. I listened to a couple of podcasts again, so at least I enjoyed myself!
I went upstairs and turned on the heater and relaxed some more. I took a shower and came back upstairs. I watched a bit of YouTube too.
And this was my day. It was okay. Tomorrow F and I are getting our flu shots. If we are up for it, we’ll go and see a movie in the evening. I have to pick up my pants at the mall tomorrow too, so I hope I am up for it!
