Sunday - Cloudy and a bit rainy
When I went to bed last night/early this morning, F woke up. I don’t think he was sleeping well. I told him about the internet and I said a few things. I didn’t blame him, I said that either we had forgotten to pay or that the weather might have caused something to happen. Anyway, it came back around 5 am, so it could have been a planned maintenance break, that we didn’t know about. Sigh. Made me realize that neither F nor I knew the name of the internet provider.
In the morning, F got up bright and early. He made brunch for his mother and then came upstairs. We decided to go out earlier today for lunch and then look for a Christmas tree.
I couldn’t think of a good place to go so we went to Arpeggio. It’s a good place, I just had wanted something different. We had a nice lunch there.
After that, we drove to a few different stores looking for Christmas trees. There were some little ones available, but nothing that was really nice. My old tree was about 150 cm and I wanted to get one a bit bigger. Nothing was available. We either left it too late or Tsuruoka isn’t big on trees.
After the 5th store, I called it quits. We went to have a drink, but the Starbucks parking lot was full and we couldn’t get a space anywhere close. We ended up at Cafe Studio Cinq and had a nice, but lukewarm cup of something. Of course, my elbow hit a barrier on the way into the store and I knocked it over. Sigh. A lovely way to announce my presence!
We decided to go back to the house as F was falling asleep. I think he took a nap while I used my computer for a while.
We talked about dinner around 6 pm and decided to take K out with us. That meant either sushi, family restaurants or the curry restaurant. F suggested sushi and that’s what we did. We got her in the car and then drove to Kappa Sushi. We had all sorts of trouble with their reservation system but did finally get a table. We had some decent sushi and some that was only so so. F keeps doing this thing where he orders a lot of sushi for his mother. She just doesn’t want it. She did eat most of the order of fries that I got, I didn’t mind as it wasn’t that big anyway.
After our dinner, we brought K back to the house and then we went out shopping. We got some groceries at our usual place. We were surprised to see that they were tearing down one of the restaurants and the McDonald’s was closed tonight too. Hmm. What’s happening there?
F is going to make a nabe with a prepared soup base tomorrow night as I’m going to meet a friend in the afternoon and won’t have prep time for other things. I’m going to use my air fryer again on Tuesday and make some French fries, or try it.
We made a quick stop at the drugstore for something for F. We completely forgot to get detergent for him and K though. Ack.
We also picked up some more kerosene and brought it back to the house. F uses it to heat the hot water tank.
And that was about it. K was in bed long ago. I took a shower and then F did. He’s in bed and seems to be sleeping which is a good thing. He needs it and hasn’t been sleeping well, unfortunately.
Tomorrow a friend will come and pick me up and we’ll have coffee I think, and then I might do a little shopping or go and mail some Christmas cards. Tonight I have been a writing fool and have probably written about 10 cards. I still have a few more, but most of them will be for people in Japan. I know they will be late, but hopefully, they will arrive sometime in the season!
