Monday - Warm and sunny

I went to bed quite late last night so slept in a bit this morning, but not as late as I usually do. I got up. I was on my computer for a while and then decided I’d ask F if he wanted to do something because I wanted to join a meeting that was going on for my women’s group. They were having an all-day online meeting. It was a drop-in/drop-out kind of thing. As I was asking F about it, the doorbell rang. The delivery that he’d been waiting for had arrived. The delivery was actually for me, but he was nice enough to wait for me!

I joined the meeting for about an hour but left after a bit. F was in the room on the bed so it was a bit annoying to have him there. I had my headphones on so F couldn’t hear the other people, but he could hear me, which made it not so private for me!

When I left the meeting we talked about lunch. I had hoped to go for yakiniku or something nice, but F wanted fish at the place in the Bussankan. I don’t like that place at all. In the name of peace, I tried to suggest other places but he really wanted it. I finally agreed.

We went there, were able to get in and get an actual table, rather than a Japanese-style table. I hadn’t wanted to eat raw fish for lunch today, so I asked F if there were any cooked ones. He showed me the sample and said it was fish that tasted good. I ordered it on his say so.

The food was horrible. The fish was cold on top of the rice and it wasn’t completely cooked either. It had no taste at all. I ate it, but I wasn’t happy about it. F gobbled his food up, he had something different. We left the restaurant and then did a bit of shopping.

We went to Musashi to get me a new laundry hanger. Mine has lasted a long time, but it has finally given up the ghost. Last year I broke one side. I put a splint on it and am still using it. Recently, one of the clips broke off and I can’t put it back as the thing that holds it to the frame broke. Got a new one, and also picked up some cleaners and some new baking soda for the kitchen and some dishwashing liquid for me. Necessary stuff really.

We followed that up with a trip to a drugstore. I got something I needed and F and I picked up a few snacks. Why is the drugstore so much cheaper for those than the grocery store?

We came back to the house for a while and F took a nap. I gamely spent time on my computer, but then got so tired that I got into bed, pulled up the covers and went to sleep.

F woke me up around 7 pm wondering if I wanted dinner. Well, yes!  He also talked about driving out to Fujishima to see the lights. I suggested that we do that first, so we did.

I had no idea what I’d see when we got there, but it was amazing. I was expecting a few little lights, but this was incredible. Fujishima is now a suburb of Tsuruoka but the light show was so great. They are famous for having wisteria in summer, they replicated the wisteria in lights. It was a beautiful sight. It was rather cold walking around the park and I was glad I had my hat and gloves on, but it was so lovely. It was the last day for it today, so I’m so glad that we had the chance to see it.

There weren’t too many places to eat in Fujishima, so we drove back into Tsuruoka. I suggested getting our groceries first as the shop would close before the restaurant. We did that. As usual these days, there wasn’t anything left in the store. I got the last packet of chicken for dinner tomorrow, and there wasn’t any bread. I usually buy a “loaf” of 8 slices, they didn’t have any. There was one loaf with 6 slices, but they tend to be too thick for me so I skipped it. I’ll have bagels instead. And the salads….almost all gone. I just really am starting to hate going there now.

We went to Gusto for a late dinner. While we were just getting our food, F reminded me that he had a massage appointment at 10:40. It was 9:50 or something at the time. We had to wolf down our food and then drive back to the house. I put the groceries away while F got himself ready and left for the massage place.

While he was gone I filled up the kerosene tank upstairs and got myself some water for my water pot up here. Then I took a shower and came upstairs again.

I had planned to join the meeting again but decided that I really didn’t want to be online in my pyjamas so I’m afraid I decided not to. I also have to work tomorrow so I wanted to try and get to bed at a decent time tonight! Good luck with that.

So that was my day. It had its ups and downs, turned out okay really. I just wish that F and I could come to some sort of agreement on food. There’s a really nice restaurant in another section of the Bussankan where we were today. I think I’ll suggest that I go there if he wants his fish again. I’ve been to the fish place twice and hated it both times.

That’s it for me. Come back later if you like and hear about my Tuesday. Until tomorrow….
