Thursday - Warm and sunny, with a bit of rain

I woke up a little early this morning, went downstairs and then went back to bed for a little bit more sleep. F had left already. I did have a hard time dragging myself out of bed today. My friend sent me a text to say that she would be able to join me for lunch today. Yay! We haven’t had lunch together for ages.

I had a quiet morning around the house. I didn’t see K at all. I left her a plate in the fridge for her lunch though, so I knew she wouldn’t get too hungry. I got dressed and then went downstairs to wait for my friend. She arrived and off we went.

She had suggested a new restaurant that I hadn’t even heard of before, En/Me.  We went and were able to get in and get part of a table. They have quite long benches and my friend and I sat side by side rather than across from each other.

I ate something called the Farmer’s Plate. It had a bunch of things including a poached egg, some couscous, some clams, some boiled or steamed vegetables…there was a lot. It was really good, but not exactly what I was expecting. We both had some dessert, a berry and cream scone that was nice without being brilliant, and something to drink. I had a hot hoji-cha latte. It was really nice but got cold quickly. She had an Appletiser, which is not a drink you usually find in restaurants here.

We enjoyed ourselves over lunch and talked a lot! When we finished, I suggested going to the Chido Museum. My membership is still valid so we can get in without paying. We checked out a couple of the buildings, we saw the Hina Matsuri dolls and the old Police Building. In that one, we climbed all the way to the top so we could go out on the balcony and take pictures! It was a difficult and steep climb, but totally worth it.

Sadly, it was nearly time for us to break up our party. I asked her to drop me off at S-Mall and she did. I went into the mall and had a look around. I visited the hundred yen shop and bought a few things. After that, I checked out the grocery shop and thought about getting something for dinner. Normally, when I’m at the mall, I go to the coffee shop, but today I decided to have an ice cream instead. I had a coupon for a free scoop, so I used that. I sat in the food court area and ate my ice cream. F called me and said he was on his way back. I told him I’d meet him in the grocery store.

I went over to the grocery store and started picking up a few things and putting them in my basket. F arrived and we went through the checkout and then left the mall. I did see one of my students on the way out, we waved!

At the house, I went upstairs and got changed. I went down to the kitchen and started making dinner. We had sautéed pork, reheated spring rolls, potato salad, salad and it was all good! I pulled that together in about 35 minutes so I was happy too. K seemed to really enjoy dinner so that was good.

After dinner and the dishes, I came upstairs and F was already in bed. He’s tired and his knee hurts. He’s been up a bit but didn’t stay. I watched The Rookie and then the news I missed earlier in the day.

Tomorrow I have to do laundry. I had planned to go to the mall in Mikawa, but the weather is supposed to be bad so I didn’t.

We’ve had a few aftershocks today, but over here they haven’t been too bad. I hope that my friends on the other side of the country are okay.

Come back later if you like and hear all about my day. Until tomorrow….
