Tuesday - Rainy and horribly humid, slightly cooler

I was woken up before 8 am because the people building the house next door to ours started work before 8. ACK! How dare they?!  I went downstairs, came back up and watched the news. A little after 9 I started watching Free Guy, but I did snooze a little in the middle. I love that film though!

I had a quiet day around the house. I watched a few YouTube videos and then went down to grab lunch a few minutes earlier than I have been lately. I decided that I’d watch a movie off the DVR.  I chose one that I wasn’t even sure what it was! I had recorded it a couple of months ago and didn’t watch it, so today was the day. The film was….Herself. It’s about an abused wife who fights to make a home for herself and her daughters. She comes across plans for a simple house and wants to build one. It’s a great little story, gets quite gritty at times. I really enjoy it.

F popped back to the house for a few minutes while I was eating and watching the movie. He only stayed a few minutes and went back to work. While he was here, I reminded him that it was Tsuruoka’s O-Bon. He’d completely forgotten. I saw his mother washing parts of the Butsudan this morning and she seemed rather busy whenever I saw her.

I finished the movie, watched the news and then turned off the TV for a while. F called before 5:30 today so I went downstairs and started getting dinner ready. Tonight I made chicken salad from a couple of bought chicken breasts and also did the spicy tofu bake that we all seem to like. It was supposed to be make-your-own chicken sandwiches, but nobody really seemed to make their own!

I did the dishes afterwards. I was so hot and sweaty afterwards, even though K had the AC on in the living room. I don’t get a huge benefit from the AC, but it was worth having it on.

I went upstairs. F hadn’t felt that great at dinner, but gamely ate a bit of food. We needed to go and get a few things, but F hadn’t gone to the bank today. He didn’t think he had enough cash. I reminded him that he had some gift certificates from the grocery store that he hadn’t used. Bonus! Free groceries!  I changed and went downstairs, F followed a bit later. He talked to his mother about O-Bon and she wanted a bunch of things including flowers and fruit. Ack.

We got to the grocery store and got out of the car. F looked sheepish and realized that he didn’t have the gift certificates with him after all. He said he’d go back to the house for them. I said I’d go in and start on MY shopping!  Fair enough. That’s what we did. Except, he didn’t go back to the house, he went to 7-11 to use the ATM!

I got a bunch of stuff, but just as I was looking at veggies, dear F shows up. Sigh. He bought big expensive fruit things, heavy fruit things that I had to carry. Then flowers. That I had to carry. He was running around like a headless chicken on crutches and I was carrying a heavy basket and three bunches of flowers.

Finally, we checked out. He wouldn’t let me pass him for a while, but I got by. Then, there was too much stuff to go in the big bag we brought, so I used one of mine. I still had to carry it all, but at least the clerk put all the flower bunches together in one package and the weight was better split between two bags than one basket.

We got back to the house where K was still up. F gave her the flowers and the fruit, I put my shopping away. I headed upstairs, and F came up later on.

I watched FBI Most Wanted tonight and then turned off the TV. I went downstairs and used the washroom. When I came out, K was waiting for me in the living room. I was a tad worried that I’d done something, but I hadn’t! She wanted me to help her put a shippu (a plaster used for pain relief) on her shoulder. I didn’t really plan on seeing my MIL nearly naked at midnight…it kind of freaked me out.  Still, I guess she really needed help. It was in an awkward place. I’ve helped F with a lot of them over the years, but never K!

I came back upstairs and got stuck into my blogging and YouTube watching. I’m going to go to bed in a few minutes.

I never did laundry today, but hopefully, I’ll do some tomorrow. I wanted to catch the end of Free Guy…a movie I’ve seen at least half a dozen times.

Come back later if you like and hear about my day. Until tomorrow….
