Saturday - Cloudy and rainy at times
I slept in a little this morning but woke up before my alarm. I did go back to bed though. F went off to the doctor and did his thing. He came back quite a bit later. He came back wearing his new brace. He just got a new brace for his knee. It’s big, and it covers his leg from his thigh down to the ground, but the good news is that he doesn’t need his crutches anymore.
As he’d made brunch for K before he left, we decided to go out for lunch together. I suggested going to Kissa Marina, a little restaurant near our doctor’s office. F agreed for a change and we went there. We were able to get a table and had a look at the menu. I had my favourite curry pasta and F had a yakiniku donburi. We both seemed to enjoy ourselves and the food was great.
After lunch, we did a little running around. First, we tried to find shoes for F. With the brace, he needed new shoes as his old shoes wouldn’t fit over the foot part of his brace. In the first place, we went no one helped him, so we left. The second place was near a hundred yen shop, so I went there and F looked for shoes.
I did a little shopping and I got some more of the horrible, splitty yarn, but this time in white which I needed. I picked up a few things I probably shouldn’t have, but so what. I went back to the shoe shop and F was in the process of buying a new pair of shoes. Yay him.
After that, we began the fruitless attempt to find a Christmas tree in Tsuruoka. We found a few but they were very small and not what I wanted. Sigh. We were in a far area of Tsuruoka, so around 4 pm I suggested getting a bento for K. It took a little bit of an effort to get to the grocery store, but when we got there, we bought her some sushi. That was F’s idea. We came back to the house and gave her her dinner.
F and I spent some time upstairs. Finally around 7:00 or so we decided to go out for dinner. My first suggestion was Korean food, but the local restaurant was busy. Their parking area was full. I suggested Jiro, the place near my first apartment and that’s where we ended up. Sadly, they were out of our favourite dish, but we ate well anyway. I had beef stew with buttered rice and F had their yakiniku plate. I told him that he had yakiniku twice today.
During dinner, F got a phone call from his mother wondering where we were and what we were doing. Honestly, we’re certainly old enough to be out as long or as late as we want to be. And, I should point out that this was around 7:45 in the evening. Not late at all!
After dinner, we visited Yamaya for a few minutes. I got some pasta sauces and F got some saké. I also got some Canadian oatmeal cookies in the bargain bin just because!
We came back to the house and had a quiet evening in. I looked up a tree on a store’s website and later showed it to F. We might order it tomorrow. He can always pick it up after work when it arrives. Woot.
This evening I worked on my Fire Stick. I basically had to reset it again. I needed to unplug it and then plug it back in again. I’m not sure if it was the remote, but it could have been part of it. Anyway, I watched another episode of Bad Sisters on AppleTV+ and then turned off the TV for a while. I watched a bit of YouTube and worked on my ornament. I got it done tonight. Woot! I might rework the hanging string, but it does look amazing. It is so shiny!
Later, I watched another show on WOWOW and then turned off the TV. It’s been a quiet evening here really. F has been watching TikTok on his phone and I’ve been back to YouTube again.
I’m not sure what we’re going to get up to tomorrow, but you could come back a bit later and find out! Until tomorrow….
