Friday - Cold and snowy

I woke up this morning because F was making a lot of noise. I don’t know why he can’t put his stuff together at night before he gets into bed. I do that a lot but I rarely have to get up before him!

I got up a few minutes later and saw him downstairs. He did have the good grace to apologize to me for waking me up! When I went back upstairs I realized that it was really cold and that it was white outside. We had had snow overnight. Brr.

I went back to bed and “slept” for another half an hour or so. I don’t think I actually fell asleep, but I tried. I watched the news and then did doze off again. I got up a bit later and did a load of laundry. I cleared out the corner of the room so I could take down my old laundry and then I decided that I might as well vacuum the heater as it’s been acting up lately. I did that, and also did a bit under my desk. That was desperately needed.

In the afternoon I took my fan over to the garage and took it upstairs. I grabbed my Christmas decorations and brought them over to the house. And then, I grabbed the snow shovel (which was buried under so much stuff) and shovelled a bit of snow. Next, I gathered up the solar-powered lights from the garden and put them in the garage too. I went back into the house and changed my pants. They had trailed in the snow and were wet. After that, I went downstairs and grabbed my lunch.

I ate lunch and watched Bake-Off. It was the finale so I was happy to see it. I enjoyed watching it. I watched the news after that.

F had texted me to say that he did order dinner for us, and the approximate time it would arrive. Around 6 pm I decided to go downstairs and wait for the delivery, and after I did my dishes, I started to work on the tree. It took a while, but I managed to put the tree together and got it set up. I went to the washroom and when I came out, K was sweeping the floor of all the plastic needles. Sigh. I was going to do that when I finished.

The food arrived just about then so I paid the guy and took it into the kitchen and then the living room. K and I started to eat and about five minutes later F called to say he had finished work and was on his way back. K and I finished, so I took most of the stuff off the table and washed it in the kitchen. Then, I got started decorating the tree.

Instead of looking at the stuff I had before I started, I just started. I put lights on the tree and then some ornaments from the exchange I’m in. Then, I found other ornaments that I made or bought and put them up. I decorated the tree! It was fun, but hard work and my back was protesting a bit.

F came back so I set him up with his donburi…we all had tuna donburi…and I continued on the tree. K was quite fascinated and kept coming for a look before she took herself off to bed. A little after 9 I called it a night. I still have lots of ornaments, but they mostly aren’t as meaningful to me as the ones I put on the tree already.

I put the boxes away and even swept the floor again for good measure. I’ll have to remember to keep doing that as the days go by.

I went upstairs and a few minutes later F came too. I rested for a bit and then took a shower. It was so cold in the bathroom. Brr.

And really, that’s about it for my day. I watched the last episode of Truth Seekers. I quite enjoyed the show and I’m sad to say that there won’t be more of it. Sigh.

It’s late and really you are caught up with me. I have an exciting Saturday planned…not really, so come back later on and find out what went on. Until tomorrow….

What a lovely tree! They are hard work but so worth it. Good on you for persisting and getting the darn thing set up and decorated! There are an intriguing collection of ornaments in your photos.

Thank you! I couldn't believe some of the ornaments that I had hiding in my ornament box. I had things from relatives that are gone now...things I had completely forgotten about. The overall effect is quite nice.

It does make me feel more Christmassy. I've missed not having a tree.

Thanks for visiting and commenting :-)
