Thursday - Cool in the morning, gloriously sunny in the daytime
I woke up this morning and did my usual thing of going downstairs and then came back to the room. I watched the news from the bed and even allowed myself to take a short nap. I got up around 10 and checked my computer and also grabbed my breakfast. I took my breakfast upstairs and ate. I had a cup of tea for good measure too. A bit after 11 I started to get dressed and pack my bag for going out. I hadn’t seen K yet, and hadn’t really heard her either.
I went downstairs around 12 and was just about ready to leave, when I realized that I was wearing my house glasses. I could keep wearing them, but when I’m getting my haircut, I have to take them off. They don’t fit in a regular glasses case, so I couldn’t take them. I ran them back upstairs and then left the house.
I walked to the bus stop. I got there just as the bus was supposed to, but happily for me it was a couple of minutes late. When I saw it in the distance I crossed the street so that I could get on board. For some reason, the bus stop is on the wrong side of the road!
I got on the bus and we went off. It wasn’t too busy today, but there were quite a few people getting on and off. I appreciated that really. It just shows that we really needed the local bus.
I got off at the station and went into Foodever. The fancy pasta place was closed, and the restaurant I often eat at didn’t have a dish that tempted me today. I decided to go up to the post office and then look around on the way back.
I mailed a couple of parcels at the post office and also made a deposit to my account there. Japan banks and post offices have recently started to charge for depositing coins. The post office allows you to deposit 50 coins for free per day. It means that it is a real pain to get rid of the coins that we collect every day. And, the amount they charge goes up by number of coins, so you if you deposit a lot of 1 yen coins for example, it wouldn’t be worth it. Maybe Japan should get rid of the one yen coin? It works for Canada!
I walked to the mall and decided to go to the Daiichi Hotel and have their weekly lunch. Today it was Yurinchi. It was quite nice. I paid and then walked over to my hairdresser’s salon.
Over the next hour, I got my hair cut and it looks so cute! It’s very short and I had to go and get some hair product later to try and make it look a bit spiky! I paid my stylist and then went back to the mall.
I did a little shopping around the mall and even had an ice cream at Baskin Robbins. That was nice. I started reading my Journal from my women’s group.
I did a bit more shopping and then close to 5 pm, I went to Doutor and had an iced rooibos tea while I waited for F to finish work. He called me around quarter after 5 and said he’d meet me. He came by the coffee shop and had a seat. I got us both drinks and we relaxed for a bit.
We left the mall and went to the grocery store to buy some bentos and do shopping for tomorrow. F was in a lot of pain today, so I did the shopping. We went to the station grocery store. I picked up 3 bentos for us, plus a few side dishes, some onigiri for F and K’s breakfast, some yogurt for mine, and a few other necessaries.
We came back to the house. F headed straight for the house, didn’t offer to help carry anything. I had three bags of my own, plus the heavy grocery one. To make matters worse, when he went in, he closed the door behind him!
I put the things in the kitchen and then headed upstairs to change my clothes. I didn’t want to wear my nice clothes in the kitchen.
When I came downstairs again, F was still sat in the living room at the table, and so was K. Nice. Neither of them had shifted their butts to get dinner on the table. I’m afraid that I opened the living room door and had a few words with F. He said that he was in too much pain to stand.
I started heating up bentos and putting other things on plates. Just then, I saw F sneaking upstairs. I asked him if he was going to come down for dinner but he said he wasn’t. He’d eat later.
I put dinner out for K and I. It was okay. I got her katsudon and I had a spicy pork donburi. We also had some spring rolls and a little bit of katsuo (a fish) and some kara-age. It was nice. K didn’t finish her meal, and is leaving it for tomorrow. That’s fine.
I did the few dishes and then went upstairs. I had a relaxing evening. I had wanted to watch something off the Fire Stick, but discovered that a show I watch wasn’t being recorded by the DVR. F really needs to take another go at the machine set up. It isn’t working well at all.
After a bit, F went down and got his dinner and brought it up. He said it was good. He had gyudon and somehow managed to add in some cup ramen.
I watched an episode of The Red Green Show and then tonight’s New Amsterdam. It was good, but a bit strange. I know a lot of things are happening there.
F went to bed after midnight and to be honest, I’m a bit tired and would like to get to bed soon too. I had a really lovely day out and I’d like to go out more often. Now that the bus is closer, I suppose I can! Another good thing is that when Machi-kinema reopens, if it does, I’ll be able to take a bus there and probably back too. Woot!
So, that’s it from me for today. I got a great haircut, I was able to go out in the lovely sunshine and I had a good meal by myself. Yay me!
Come back later if you like and read all about my Friday. Until tomorrow….
