Sunday - Snowy and cold

I’m back!  I had a fabulous time in Tokyo visiting with my friends. We ate some fabulous food, visited a few different areas of the city and more importantly, talked up a storm. During the three days that I was in Tokyo, I walked well over 10,000 steps a day. WELL over 10,000 steps! My feet are still sore.

My trip back to Tsuruoka went well. The trains weren’t crowded but the odd thing is that the cars on the train I was on from Niigata to Tsuruoka didn’t have working washrooms! I didn’t check the whole train, but I did go through three or four cars and the two washrooms I found were closed and marked with Out of Order signs.

When F picked me up at the station he was a bit odd. He’d texted me that he was at the bus stop…a few years ago he’d texted me that he was at the bus station so I assumed he was joking…he wasn’t. He had to go around the station to where I was so he was annoyed. He had his bloomin’ TikTok crap blaring away in the car and he was in a bad mood because I told him not to honk the car horn at me.

He wanted to go out to eat. I didn’t really need to as I’d had a lovely bento on the train, but whatever. We went to a gyudon shop as it was the only place still open. F kept listening to his TikTok. At no point did he ask me anything about my trip. We hadn’t spoken on Friday night as he had a party that he was supposed to go to. However, the party was cancelled…and he didn’t tell me. I didn’t phone him because he was at a party, don’t know why he didn’t text me at least to say he wasn’t there.

I went to bed fairly early for me last night. I was falling asleep at my computer so I couldn’t blog. I went to bed around 2 and didn’t get up until after 11 am this morning. I slept very well and hardly woke up at all.

F and I went out for lunch. We were going to go to Cocos but when we went there the parking lot was full. We ended up going to Gusto instead. We had a pretty decent meal.

We did some grocery shopping. Well, strictly speaking, I did the shopping. I went to Gyomu Supa and got a few staples for our freezer. I went to the regular grocery store to get some of the usual things I need for meal-making over the next few days. After that, we came back to the house. I put the groceries away and then came upstairs.

I relaxed, F either snoozed or TikTok’d all afternoon. It was a quiet afternoon and basically just what I needed after the last few days.

We decided to go out for dinner around 7 pm. We picked one place, but sad to say, it was closed when we got there. We decided to go to Cocos and had a pretty good meal there. I had my standby dish there, the mustard cream sauce burger and shared an order of fries with F. Dinner was pretty good.

We came back to the house immediately after dinner. F had his TikTok blaring in the car. I was not impressed. F still hasn’t asked me anything about my trip. We had spoken on the first day, but not the second or third so I’m rather surprised but not in a good way.

I had a quiet evening. I wore headphones and watched a lot of YouTube so I wouldn’t hear his racket. I think he did wear earphones after a while though. We weren’t arguing, but just both being quiet. I’m very tired from my trip still.

I had a great time, but it was expensive and we did so much moving around that we were all quite tired at the end. Still, I did get to see a few friends and that was wonderful!

So, I’m back and tomorrow I have to buckle down and work on my column. It has to be finished soon.

Come back later if you like and hear about my Monday. Until tomorrow….

I'm so glad you had a lovely time in Tokyo. There's always something exciting going on in that city. And how nice to see it with a friend!

Boo to F for being more focused on TikTok than on your return. I swear, TikTok is such a time suck. I have friend who is pretty much addicted to it and spends hours and hours on there. I don't get the attraction myself!

After living in such a small city for as long as I have, Tokyo was confusing, crazy expensive, but also fun. I was with a few friends actually, not just one. We walked so much that my feet are still sore!

And I don't get the TikTok thing either. He watches a lot of the same people do their live performances and watches every day. If he forgets to bring earphones then I and anyone around is subjected to their music. Urgh. I watch too much YouTube, but not when I'm out and about or at a restaurant.

Crazy husband!
