Thursday - Cooler and a bit muggy, rainy at night.
I woke up this morning when my alarm went off. I got up and turned on the TV then went downstairs. When I came back up I watched the rest of the news. It looks like NHK is only running one English segment between 8 and 9am. Oh well.
I snoozed a bit afterwards and then went downstairs. I planned to do some laundry so took down my laundry basket. When I got to the washing machine, I was surprised to see some of K’s stuff inside. I took my laundry back upstairs to try again later.
I had my breakfast and relaxed for a while. After a while, I checked the washer again and K’s stuff was still there, and still unwashed. I grabbed a clean bag from the kitchen and put K’s clothes in it. I did a load of clothes and when they were over, I did another one too. I hung up the clothes in my room and then had my lunch. I was a tad worried as I hadn’t seen K all day.
I folded my clean laundry and watched Bake-Off. It was a good one today, and a bit odd as they were in a heatwave. I can’t imagine baking in a hot tent.
F called around 5:30 and said he was on his way. I went downstairs to get the kitchen ready for dinner and as I was near the kitchen I saw someone try to come in the front door. It was K and her daughter! K had been out all afternoon. I had no idea!
F came back a few minutes later and talked to his sister and their mother. He told me soon after that K didn’t need anything for dinner. That was kind of nice for me. I could have a less formal dinner.
I made some guacamole and then I made quesadillas, or my version anyway in my air fryer. That was a game changer…it was so easy! I heated up the leftover taco mix and put them on tortillas, added some cheese and then put them in the air fryer with my wire rack on them to hold them closed. Then, I air fried them. I got F downstairs and we had some quesadillas with guacamole and salsa, some tortilla chips and some salad. Instead of mugi-cha we had hibiscus tea tonight. Dinner was great. K took herself off to bed so we had the room to ourselves. I did have to ask F to turn down TikTok so I could hear the news though. Sigh.
I tried chatting to him during dinner, with mixed results. Sometimes he heard/understood me, sometimes he really didn’t pay much attention. I asked him when I could book my tickets to Canada and he said he was thinking about coming with me. Umm….I asked him what he was going to do with his mother since she really shouldn’t be left alone. He said he’d ask his sister to take care of her. At least he didn’t talk about taking his mother with us. That is not something that I am willing to do! I still don’t know if I can book my tickets since I don’t know if he’s serious about going with me for part of the time.
I did the dishes and it didn’t take that long tonight. I had only used my air fryer and a lot of dishes. I went upstairs and got changed to go out.
We went to Mina, the nearby grocery store and I bought a few groceries. I got things for me and also for K and F’s breakfast. We hit up a drugstore afterwards for some stomach medicine for F.
We came back to the house and I took a shower. When I finished, I came upstairs again and watched New Amsterdam and did two or three rows on my blanket. When the show was finished, I asked F to be my measure again. It’s almost long enough to cover him. It hangs over his feet and I think he can bring it up to his chin. Just a few more rows really. I’ll probably spend some time cutting ends or darning them in. I crocheted over them, and magic knotted the yarn, so it shouldn’t be too bad really.
And that’s me for today. Tomorrow I’m heading downtown to get my hair cut and then I’m not sure. I asked F about dinner and I think we might get bentos in for a change. We’ll see how things go.
Come back later if you like and hear all about my Friday. Until tomorrow….
