Saturday - Hot and sunny
I woke up early the first time and then went back to sleep after a while. I was trying to wake up when F came back to the room around 10:30 and got a bit cuddly. All of a sudden he demanded that I tell him where I wanted to go for lunch, started saying that he wanted ramen and then stormed off. We had talked about places to go last night, so I don’t know why he suggested someplace that I wouldn’t want to go today.
While he was gone, I got up, dressed and went downstairs and defrosted a bagel for myself and made a ham sandwich from it. It was nice.
F came back a bit later and brought me some croissants from the new bakery we found. I ate one, it was a kabocha croissant and it was very nice. But, what would have been nicer was if I could have picked out what I wanted to eat for myself.
I took a nap, as did F. Around 2:30 I suggested that he go out and get his mother a bento, so he did that. We expected his mother back around 3:30 and he had an appointment at 4 pm, so we had to be ready early.
He brought a bento or two for her and came back to the house. I got up and got ready to go out. He came up to the room and asked if I was ready to go and I said I was. A few minutes later, K came back and then we left!
We went to the car dealership and F’s car got its 10,000 km servicing. They said they’d finish at 5:15, but they were a little faster than that. Whew! When they were done, we drove off to Mikawa.
We got to the mall around 5:30-5:40ish and our movie started at 5:45. We went upstairs, bought our tickets and then our popcorn and drinks and went into the theatre. We went to see Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. It was quite good. I didn’t love it, but I enjoyed the story and some of it surprised me, which is always a good thing.
After the movie, I was quite hungry. We talked about what to do for dinner. F suggested a place in Sakata that’s okay, but a bit expensive. I asked him if it was okay money-wise. He said he didn’t like it. Why the flaming heck would he suggest a place that he doesn’t like? I said no.
Back in the car, I suggested going to a place in Tsuruoka that we’ve gone a few times at night. It serves Chinese food and stays open a little later than some places.
We drove there and when we were driving into the entrance, we saw the cook outside taking down the flags. Oops. F asked if they were closed and the man said that we could go in. Woot!
We went in and I ordered mapo-dofu on rice, and F ordered some yakisoba stuff. We shared an order of gyoza. My food was good. It was nice to have something spicy for a change. I’m so tired of boring Japanese flavours.
We paid and left, thanking the cook for allowing us to come in. By the way, we actually were there before closing time, their posted time was 10 pm, with the last order at 9 pm. We were in just before 9, so we weren’t keeping them too late.
We came back to the house and I relaxed for a few minutes then went downstairs and took a shower. I came back upstairs and then watched FBI. I had missed the first few minutes, so watched that at the end. I also did a little bit of knitting during the show. I think I’m just about ready to start decreasing for the top of the hat. I’m going to make it a little shorter than the last hat. At least that’s the plan at the moment.
F has gone to sleep. He’s still a bit grumpy. He’s not feeling great. His neck is bothering him he said, but I’m just getting tired of his continuing nastiness. We’re supposed to go to Sakata tomorrow, I’m just not sure if I should subject my friends to him. Hopefully, he’ll feel better in the morning.
So, that’s it for me. I’ll probably be here tomorrow and fill you in on my day. Come back later if you like and hear all about my day. Until tomorrow….
