Sunday - Cloudy and a little cooler
I heard music last night when I was making my final trip downstairs before bed. I wasn’t sure where it was coming from. It turned out that it came from the living room. K was up watching TV. It was nearly 3 am. I’m usually up until then, but she isn’t! I even went into the room to talk to her to see if she was okay. She said she was.
This morning, I woke up around 9 and went downstairs. I went back to bed but didn’t really sleep much. I wanted to, it just didn’t happen. F went off to the hardware store to get something. He wanted to get a new doorbell.
I got up around 11 and got dressed. F came up a bit later and of course, started talking about going for lunch. He had completely forgotten that we were going over to Sakata to have lunch before meeting up with my friends. He kept wanting to leave, but it was too early to go. Finally, around 12:30 we left.
We drove to Sakata and went to the yakiniku restaurant that we had planned to go to. They weren’t busy and we were able to get in right away. We had a nice lunch of yakiniku. We shared our meat. F had clear noodles and I had a bibinba with my meat and we were both happy.
A little before 3 we drove over to the big park in Sakata and found the coffee shop that we were meeting at. F and I had problems finding a parking place, but finally, we got one. It may not have been strictly legal, but we weren’t hurting anything I think!
We went up to the coffee shop and grabbed a table. It was a small one, so when a larger one became available, we took it over! A few minutes later our friends arrived. We had a lovely meetup. It was really nice to talk to everyone. My friend’s daughter was there and provided a lot of fun for everyone. After an hour or so, we had to go our separate ways and we took our pictures and said goodbye.
F and I drove to the Aeon Mall in Sakata to use the washrooms and then to grab a drink at a machine. We drove back to Tsuruoka after that. We stopped in at F’s favourite grocery shop for a cheap bento for K, and some onigiri for tomorrow’s breakfasts for K and F.
Next up, we drove to another grocery and I went in and bought groceries for the next couple of days. I went back to the car and then we went back to the house. F gave his mother her bento, I put the groceries away and then went upstairs to rest.
F wanted to go for dinner but wouldn’t suggest any place to go. Eye roll. I really dislike that. We had words about that today…he wanted me to immediately approve of the restaurants he suggests…but usually, the restaurants he suggests, when he does, are horrible or ramen places.
Anyway, I suggested going to a place near a shopping complex. I was worried since the last few times we tried to go there, it was always closed. F decided to try it tonight. We drove over there and it was closed. However, I had suggested going to Nagomi if the other place was closed. F liked that idea and so that’s what we did.
I had an udon nabe and F had Keisen-don, fish on rice. We were both really pleased with our meals. We ate and then came back to the house via a drugstore. We had a little look around the store and basically only bought ice cream and some decaf coffee for me!
We had a quiet evening back at the house. K was pleased with her ice cream, F didn’t eat his, and I liked mine. I decided to watch a movie, so I finally put on Weird, the Weird Al Yankovic story. It was fun. I wouldn’t say it was a laugh riot, but it had a lot of good yuks. It finished a bit after midnight so I turned off the TV then. I haven’t watched a movie at the house in ages, so it was a good thing to do!
I’m going to go off to bed soon. I’m a little tired, but it was a pretty good day. I think it was good that I didn’t let my husband boss me around too much and I didn’t boss him around too much!
Come back later if you like and hear all about my Monday. Until tomorrow….
