Sunday - Hot and humid, rainy later on
Today was both an annoying day and a good day! It was very odd!
I woke up first this morning and went downstairs. F had been busy while he was waiting for the priest to come by. He had cleaned the bathroom, his style. Still, that was good of him. I guess. I said hi to him and then went back upstairs afterwards. I saw some news about Trump getting shot and was quite surprised. I went back to sleep soon after.
I woke up again a bit later. The priest still hadn’t come so we couldn’t go out. I got dressed and stayed up, spent some time on my computer. Finally, a little bit before 3 pm F came upstairs and said that the priest had come and gone and he’d also had a delivery of some sports drink. Yay.
He wanted to get his mother a bento for later, so I went to the store with him and got myself a couple of onigiri. He delivered the bento to his mother and then we went off to the karaoke box. We did have to wait a few minutes while the room was being cleaned, but soon enough we were given a room.
We went in and looked at the menu. F did what he usually did and wanted to order everything off the menu. I got him to back off a little, so we ordered a few dishes and then later on we ordered a few more. I got to sing a lot of songs that I liked, I did a few Canadian songs to be a late Canada Day tribute, but honestly, I think the most fun song for me today was Uptown Funk! Unfortunately, F was bothered by the air conditioning and started to say that he wasn’t feeling too well. I felt sorry, but I’m not sure what I was supposed to do about it. I turned off the AC until I couldn’t stand it anymore.
We left Karaoke around 6 and went over to Gusto for dinner. It was crowded, but we got in fairly soon. I had one of their new specials, an Asian plate. It had green curry, fried chicken with a spicy sauce, some mango, some yellow rice and a kale salad. It was really nice, but somewhere along the way, I noticed that one of my lips had a swollen area. I’ve been avoiding tomatoes, so I’m not sure what happened. I hope it doesn’t last long.
After 7:30 I started to suggest to F that we leave. I had a movie thing started at 8:00pm and I was worried about having to set up my computer first. We made it to the house at 7:51, I used the ‘loo and then went upstairs. I got my computer set up. I did have to update the app which was annoying, but expected. Then, I was lucky enough to watch Anatomy of a Fall. It was great! I really enjoyed it. Sandra Müller was excellent. I understand why she was nominated for best actress. I still wish that Greta Lee was nominated!
When the movie was over F was whining again about the air conditioner and being dehydrated. I have a hard time sympathizing when he doesn’t drink water or any non-caffeinated drinks like I do. I turned off the AC and opened the window. However, I still have my fan going on me. I need it damn it!
Anyway, since midnight I’ve been watching YouTube and getting my blog done. I really don’t know what we’re going to get up to tomorrow. F suggested going fishing in the evening. I think it would be fun if it isn’t raining. Other than that, I’ll have to buy groceries for the next couple of days. I do hope that F and I get on tomorrow. I’m having a problem with him complaining about using the air conditioner. I’m not made for hot humid weather and I have told him that. I think he may have to find a different room in the house to sleep in! I hope he doesn’t think I have to do that!
Okay, enough already. Come back later if you like and hear all about my holiday Monday. Until tomorrow….

Sounds like a good day.
Karaoke is so fun. I really miss it sometimes!
Seems to me like you're being very diplomatic about the AC, turning it off sometimes or only using your fan. I would not survive a Japanese summer without blasting the AC 24/7! Also I'm sure you know, but dehydration and heat exhaustion go hand in hand so if F is not staying hydrated, he's risking his health. Jeez, men can be so stubborn about such things sometimes. (Any wonder why women outlive men?)
Karaoke can be fun, if everyone is into it, but lately, F hasn't been. It was his idea to go last weekend, but since I was still getting over my cold, I wanted to wait.
I try not to use the AC as much as I want, it's expensive to run and I know that August will be much worse for me, but honestly, when our bedroom is above 28 degrees (82 F) I need to use the AC. I can understand DH not liking the AC, but when he starts whining about my fan (because it circulates the air....) I get quite upset. I don't have it pointed at him or anything so I don't understand the whining!
I agree that he and actually most Japanese people don't drink enough. When I'm at my computer at night I drink all the time, decaf tea of course. It helps a lot and if I have a really sweaty day I drink sports drink stuff too.
Thanks a lot for commenting! It's nice to hear that I'm not crazy for wanting to stay cool :-)
When I was still in Japan and teaching, I often asked my students about what they drank and not one of them drank water. It was strange and like they had an aversion to drinking plain water - coffee, tea, and even milk, but not regular water.
I asked F about drinking water today and he said that he did drink water from the tap before we got married! We've been buying sports drink in bulk and I've been making copious amounts of Mugi-cha so there is always something to drink. I don't want the people I live with to be dehydrated....even though I think they are! I drink a lot and I'm dehydrated. Mind you, I probably sweat more than they do. I'm not sure how much either of them sweat. They don't appear to at all!
As always, it's lovely to hear from you.
