Tuesday - Snowy, Cold, Rainy
I went to bed a little early last night and I wore earplugs. I think that was a good thing! I woke up just before 7 am and made a trip downstairs. F was already gone.
I returned to the room, got back into bed, and fell asleep. Just before my first alarm, F called me. He told me that the plumber was coming to actually fix the leak outside today. Would I go downstairs and let him in if necessary? I was a little irate because I was in bed and I had no warning. I asked about his mother, he said I should wake her up too.
I dressed and went downstairs. I unlocked the door. I looked in on K and she was sleeping soundly. I didn’t really want to wake her up so I didn’t. The guy came to the door and he said he was going to do some work around the back. We used Google Translate and it worked really well for us today. I asked if we could use the water and he said that at this point it was okay. He would tell me later on when we couldn’t use the water. He went off to do his thing, and I went into the living room and turned on the heater. It was only 8 degrees at that time, it was darn cold. I ended up going upstairs and getting thicker socks to wear in the living room.
K woke up and got up a bit later. I gave her a Google Translate note to say to please use the washroom now as the plumber was going to turn off the water. I’m happy to say that she did that and about 10 minutes later the guy came in and asked that we not use the water for about an hour.
He finished a little bit early and took off! I had no idea why. K was still up, she got dressed and turned on the TV. She was watching the government discuss something. I’m not sure why. She couldn’t hear them, and there weren’t any subtitles either. A little after 11, he came back and I think fixed the concrete. He came back into the house to say that he was finished. I thanked him and off he went. I locked the door and that was that.
I went into the kitchen and made my breakfast. I was quite late for it. I took it upstairs and ate. I had plans to do laundry today, but I decided not to do it. I was tired!
I relaxed most of the afternoon. I made my lunch, brought it upstairs to eat it and watched an episode of Major Crimes. I watched the news and then a bit of YouTube. I waited for F to call, but he didn’t for ages. I had just unplugged my phone to go downstairs when he called to say he was in Tsuruoka and on his way.
I went downstairs and washed my dishes. I started to get dinner ready. Today we had toaster oven chicken, rice, salad and mixed vegetables. I also toasted a basil cake…a bit like an onion cake for us. Dinner was good and most things disappeared again. I was rather pleased.
I got the dishes done quite early for a change and reminded F that we needed to go out. I changed my clothes and off we went. We just went to Mina but I took our meat trays and old milk cartons in for recycling. I bought a few groceries and then we came back to the house and I unpacked the groceries.
F headed upstairs and I went up a few minutes later. We both relaxed. I changed into my pyjamas and then at 11 I watched an episode of FBI: Most Wanted. It was okay.
So that was my day. It had an odd start but finished okay. Tomorrow I’m going to try and do the laundry that I should have done today, and I’m also cooking dinner again. Oh fun!
