Thursday - Rainy on and off, cool
I woke up this morning when my alarm went off. I went downstairs and didn’t go back to bed. I got partially dressed for going out. F returned to the house while waiting for the person he was driving around. He offered me a ride downtown if I wanted one, but in the end, I decided not to take him up on it. I would only be able to go to the mall or the post office with him and I still needed time to get ready to go out.
After he left, I spent quite a bit of time getting the envelopes ready to go in the mail. I had to seal the envelopes…Japanese envelopes don’t have glue on them so you have to find some way to close them to go in the mail. I used double-sided tape and then a sticker to make it look nice!
I left the house around 11:30 and got to the bus stop soon after. I had to wait a few minutes. The stop was right under some electricity lines and they kept dripping water on me so I used my umbrella for a bit!
I caught the bus and I was the second passenger on the bus. She got off soon after I got on and then I got off near the main post office. I went into the post office, recycled some printer cartridges, and mailed my Christmas cards that weren’t to Canada. I also deposited 50-1yen coins into my post office account. They will only take 50 coins per day or they will charge me to make a deposit. It’s a crazy system!
When I finished there, I left the post office and checked the bus schedule. Unfortunately, there wouldn’t be another bus for 40 minutes. I decided to walk to the next bus stop which is on another street so it might get more bus traffic. I walked there and the sign said there would be one in about 7 minutes. My phone didn’t agree! I waited about 15 minutes at the stop and no bus appeared so I walked. I stopped into Foodever but didn’t stay. They were busy and I needed to eat soonish as my appointment was coming up. I headed off to S-Mall.
On my way, I noticed a bunch of things. They are knocking down the old rice storage buildings near the station, and there is a new bar near my hairdresser’s. I was surprised by that. There’s also another building being knocked down. So much change in such a small area.
I had thought about going to the expensive restaurant on the corner, but they were closed today. Instead, I went to the Daiichi Hotel’s restaurant and had their weekly lunch. It was a pork piccata and I enjoyed it a lot. I had tea with it and they didn’t fill the cup at all. I was surprised at how little tea there was in the cup! It was still a nice lunch.
When I finished eating, I paid and then walked over to my stylist’s salon. As usual, we had a good time and I got a great haircut. When she washes my hair, she also cleans my ears and today I started laughing, so she did too. I told her that the last person to clean my ears was my mother and that was a long time ago. It’s funny and part of the service. She wasn’t really cleaning them, some soap had gotten into one so she was washing that off, but it tickled.
When she was finished with me I paid. She gave me a new calendar and some hand cream. Yay! I walked back to the mall and did a little shopping. I checked out the Daiso and bought a ton of stuff. I looked at the import store and got a few things there too. They had Christmas pudding and mincemeat tarts! I was so pleased. I haven’t been able to get the Christmas Pudding in years. I also got some cream of mushroom soup for dinner tonight.
I went to Baskin Robbins and had an ice cream. It was lovely and I figured I deserved it! I walked a lot today.
Around 5 pm I went into Doutor and had a cup of hot rooibos tea. F called when he finished work and then he came to meet me. It took a while. I bought him a coffee and myself another tea. He was relaxing a bit too much and finally asked him to get his skates on! We still had to do a bit of shopping and then go back to the house. I had to make dinner and it was already after 6:30.
We bought a few things at the grocery store and then headed out. Back at the house, I changed my clothes and headed into the kitchen. I made sandwiches and I heated up the soup. Eventually, I got it all ready. We had Cream of Mushroom soup, salad and chicken and cheese sandwiches. They were all nice. Much of the food disappeared, but there was enough for both K and I to have some tomorrow. There’s also leftover soup, which I’d love to heat up for myself, and K if she’s around tomorrow.
I did the dishes afterwards and then came upstairs. I didn’t finish until almost 10 pm so I was really tired. I brought a can of root beer and some ice upstairs with me. I unpacked my backpack and put away my shopping, then sat down and drank my root beer and watched a bit of YouTube. At 11pm I watched The Rookie which just came on again and it was fine.
F came upstairs and spent time on his computer. I tried talking to him a bit, but he was listening to something and wasn’t interested in me tonight.
That’s about it for me for tonight. I’m not sure what I’ll get up to tomorrow. If I can swing it, I’d like to get down my Christmas Tree from the garage and maybe a few other things. I also have to finish up my card exchange so people will be able to send out their cards to other people. Wish me luck with that.
Come back later if you like and hear all about my Friday. Until tomorrow….

Sounds like a lovely if tiring time! Nice to get out and about, I'll bet. And a new haircut and nice lunch sound like good treats. Glad to read about your enjoyable day!
Thanks for visiting. It was a good day, but I was quite tired today. I really need to do more of these going out days...they are important for my mental health as much as anything else is!
Still, I did quite a bit yesterday and that's rewarding too.
