Friday - Snowy and cold
I went to bed at my usual time last night but slept in this morning. When I dragged myself out of bed the first time this morning, I went downstairs. F had left the house, he’d gone to the doctor’s office and the onsen apparently.
I went back to bed for a bit. I watched some videos and then snoozed again. Later on, I heard a scary sound. The snowplough went down our road. Darn! I got up, dressed and went downstairs. I went outside and did a lot of snow shovelling. The entrance to the yard was blocked and the front steps were covered. I swept the stairs off and then made my way to the entrance. I had just about finished when I saw F drive down the road.
He parked the car and shovelled a little snow, but I was worried about him. The road was very slippery. The snowplough had left the snow packed like an ice rink! I didn’t see him do it, but I found out later that F fell 3 times, one of which really hurt his hip. Poor guy. He was wearing shoes, not boots like me. I found I was slipping even with boots on.
We decided to go for lunch after F made something for K’s dinner. I asked F if he’d like to try his eel restaurant after we were on the road. It isn’t open on weekends but might be today. He thought it was a good idea, so off we went.
The Eel restaurant was open and we parked and went in. We had their lunch special which was good. We had a pork and nila stir-fry, fish fry, miso soup, rice and a veggie mix lunch. It was very big but quite nice. F had coffee after, but I begged off. Caffeine is making my life a little difficult right now.
We had a bit of a problem when F wanted to pay. He only had big bills and the shop master didn’t have enough change. He offered to let us come and pay later, but I managed to scrape up enough from my wallet. I had one thousand yen note and two 500 yen coins. Whew! (F did pay me back later!)
We came back to the house via the grocery store. F went in and bought something for the visitors to munch on. However, he didn’t even serve it!
The meeting was about the Day Service’s Short-term stay service. We are thinking of using it later in the year when we are having visitors, just so we don’t have to drive back to make her lunches and dinners or leave her unattended for too long. We have to book her in soon though as we have to give them 3 months’ notice.
We relaxed for a while. F made some dinner for his mother and then we relaxed for a bit. I suggested that we go out around 7 pm. F wanted to know where I wanted to go and I suggested Cocos. They offer a free dessert in your birthday month and I have a nice discount on my app. We went there.
We both had chicken. I had chicken with a cream mushroom sauce and F had the plain chicken. He had his with a Japanese set menu (rice, miso soup and drink bar) and I had mine with a bun and soup and drink bar. We also shared a plate of fries. They have great fries!
After dinner, we paid and left. We went over to PAL Grocery store and F bought groceries for tomorrow’s breakfast for K. I got some coffee creamers for myself and got to walk around the store in my big heavy boots. Hurray for that!
We came back to the house, put away the groceries and came upstairs. I chilled out. F decided to go out again and get some adult beverage for himself. When he came back, he did some snow shovelling again. I took a shower and came upstairs planning to watch something on the Fire Disk. I settled on Bad Monkey, but every time I started to get into it, F would start talking to me. I gave up finally. I couldn’t hack it anymore.
I went over to YouTube and then started my blogging, online stuff. Sadly, the kerosene ran out in the heater a few minutes ago, so I’m trying to type as fast as I can.
That’s it for me for today. I’m unsure what we’ll get up to tomorrow, so come back later and find out! Until tomorrow….
