Saturday - Sunny and warmish

Today was an interesting day. It didn’t really turn out the way we expected, but it was okay overall.

I slept in this morning and it was nice. F got up, made his mother breakfast and took her to the daycare service. Then, he ran a few errands and did some fixing up downstairs. He replaced the wiper blades on his car and fixed the door in the toilet room.

I got up and got dressed. I was heading to my computer when F asked if I wanted to go for lunch. As usual, he had no ideas and I said I wasn’t hungry yet, could we wait a few minutes? We did and when we talked about it again, F found a place online that we hadn’t gone to before. He called and checked that they were open and that we could get a table and off we headed.

The restaurant was small but quite cool. It seemed to be run by a woman too. We looked at the menu. F ordered a shrimp pilaf and I ordered pasta with a cream sauce. F’s pilaf arrived and looked good. My pasta arrived and looked…tomatoey. Oh no! It was a tomato and cream sauce, rather than a creamy sauce like I thought. Sigh. I ate it anyway and kept my fingers crossed. My face did get a little itchy later on in the day, but so far so good. We paid and left.

We tried to find a new cafe that I saw from the bus yesterday. We found it and went in. It’s a small store that sells goods from Costco. They do mark up the prices quite a bit which makes sense, but we didn’t buy too much. We had a hot coffee too and a pastry. They sell those separately.

After our dessert and coffee, we decided to go downtown and go to S-Mall. I wanted to go to Daiso as I hadn’t been there in ages. I didn’t get too much. We had a look around the store and I got a silicon muffin tray that I can use in my air fryer and a new hair turban for drying my hair.

When we left the mall, we went back to the house and stayed there. I went upstairs and spent time on my computer watching some videos. We were back at the house until K came back. F made her dinner and then we decided to go out around 7 pm.

I had suggested going to the local Chinese place for dinner and F agreed. However, on the way there, he started talking about going to a Japanese place. I was up with that and then he decided that we would try it instead. We zoomed off, found a paid parking place and walked to the restaurant. And, they wouldn’t let us in since we didn’t have a reservation. I think F was quite disappointed. I did remind him that it was a small place and many of them have gone to reservations only since the pandemic.

Instead, we ended up going to the Good Luck Cafe. It’s run by the people that used to run Grado which once upon a time, F and I went to all the time when we had our apartment. They are closing soon, and doing a major renovation. We got a table and ordered some food. We had a mixed ajillo, some grilled chicken and grilled tongue, and fries and each of us had a non-alcoholic drink. With our grilled meat we had either a plate of rice or some bread. We shared the meat. Unfortunately, I felt that some of my chicken wasn’t cooked completely, so I didn’t eat that part of it. I know the lights might have had something to do with it, but I didn’t feel like risking getting sick.

We paid and went back to the car. We drove back to the house and F filled up the kerosene tank and took it upstairs for us. We had a quiet evening in. I watched The Day of the Jackal and thought it was good tonight.

I did quite a lot of crochet today too. My project is getting bigger, but it isn’t too big yet. I am hoping that I have enough yarn, but I doubt it yet.

What is it?

It's still a little small!

I wrote a couple of emails tonight so my computer time wasn’t all YouTube!

That’s it for me tonight. It is very late and I need some sleep. Come back later if you like and hear all about my day. Until tomorrow….
