Saturday - Sunny and warm, lovely day

I woke up the first time this morning around 7 am. I went downstairs and then came back to the room and went back to bed. I woke up a bit later when my alarms went off. I got up, dressed myself and went in search of F. He was…washing the car. I suggested that he change his clothes and get ready. Now, I had taken time last night to get my clothes together for the doctor’s visit, I had my blood pressure record book and my drug book ready to go, I even had my book ready to go with me. F did none of those things! He said he did, but he couldn’t find any of it. Not sure why.

We did get to the doctor’s office with about 5 minutes to spare. I won’t talk too much about what went on there, but we were in and out of the doctor’s office, including our meds in an hour. I think it was some kind of a record!

F had suggested that we go to a restaurant out at Matsugaoka. It’s in the Grand El Sun family, and is a vineyard restaurant. We were able to get in right away and ended up having a lovely meal. F had a pork dish that was like a meatloaf almost, I had a seafood meal that was clam chowder in a bread bowl plus salmon and some veggies. We shared a little bit of each other’s meal. We started with some kabu (turnip) soup and then our meals. We also had dessert (persimmon pudding) and coffee. All in all, a very nice meal, but we were stuck sitting outside under a sunroof. I was worried about sunburn and I had a bit of a headache afterwards. I think I’m okay.

After our meal, F took us on a big drive all over the Mt. Haguro area. Some of it was to check out places for next month, but some of it was just driving and enjoying ourselves.

We went back into Tsuruoka around 3:45 and I suggested a quick McDonald’s trip for drinks. I got a Coca Cola Zero, F got a Coke and an order of fries. When I told him I’d be eating some of his fries, he got a larger order! We enjoyed our drinks and the fries.

We left the restaurant and drove back to the house. I went upstairs and F stayed downstairs to greet his mother. She came back a few minutes after we arrived.

I watched some YouTube and spent some time on my computer. F made his mother some dinner and did ask me about what I wanted. I told him that I didn’t have any ideas so we didn’t talk about it for a while.

Finally I suggested keiten sushi. We haven’t gone in a while. Although F wanted the good, expensive place, I reminded him that it would close soon. We ended up going to Kappa Sushi. Our meal was okay. As usual, F ended up ordering too many deep fried dishes. We had some tempura, onion rings and some deep-fried shrimp sushi rolls. It was a bit much.

We left around 9 pm and F drove us to Tsuruoka park. When we got there, it wasn’t very busy and many of the shops were closing up and breaking down their kiosks. Most of the petals have fallen and the leaves are coming through on the trees now. Still, it was nice walking around the park and spending a bit of time together, even if F kept disappearing to take pictures!

On the way back to the house I asked F if he had something to make for his mother’s breakfast tomorrow and he said he didn’t. I suggested stopping at the supermarket near F’s house. It’s just a little place, but it has the kinds of things that F and K like. We went there and F picked up some fish for K’s breakfast and some snacks for us too.

We came back to the house and I went upstairs. I got into my pyjamas and grabbed my towel and went downstairs. I took a shower and then came upstairs to the room afterwards.

I watched The Day of the Jackal and today was a cracking good episode. The Jackal’s life is very complicated and Bianca has been told to stop working on the Jackal’s capture. Hmm.

Since then I’ve been watching YouTube and getting ready to blog. I’m not sure what we’ll get up to tomorrow but I will have to do the usual grocery shopping. Boo! But it is necessary!  F also has to go to his car dealership to get the car fixed. Apart from that, I have no idea!

Come back later if you like and hear all about my day. Until tomorrow….
