Thursday - Hot and Sunny
I woke up this morning when my alarm went off. I went downstairs, came back to bed and went back to sleep for a bit. F was still in bed too. I was a tad surprised as I thought he was planning to cook for his mother. He did, just later.
When I woke up later, he was downstairs. I got up, dressed and then went over to my computer. After 11 am I texted him to let him know I was up and ready to go out. He let me know that we could leave soon.
First up, we went to the convenience store where we did some printing for F’s office. I had to use my MyNumber card and we had to try this out for the first time for me. That done, we decided to go and have lunch. We only had an hour before the movie I wanted to go and see, so F suggested a gyudon shop. I wasn’t too happy about it, but didn’t want to cause an argument. I had curry and a salad there, it was….okay but really not good. F had a gyudon. When we finished our meal, we paid and headed out.
We went to Machi-ne Kinema by some weird route that only F would understand. I think he forgot that we were going there as he turned on the main road down to the house. I protested and he continued, but did turn off at another place. We got to the cinema before the movie started which was good! We grabbed drinks and went in to see The Substance. It was….wild. I’ve heard it described as a body horror film and I would say that it is an apt description. It’s a well done film, but I didn’t love it and I honestly think that Demi Moore rightly didn’t win the Academy Award.
After the movie both F and I were a bit stunned by the film and didn’t know what to think for a while. I needed to go to the post office to make a small deposit and to mail a birthday card to my niece. Since F came in with me, I sent him off to mail the card and I made my deposit at the banking section. Yay, got rid of some ten yen coins.
Next up, I suggested going to Doutor to have something to drink. F drove us to the mall and we parked and went in. I got a decaf cafe latte and F had an ice cream cone!
When we left the mall, F headed back to the house. It was so annoying. I had suggested doing our grocery shopping. However, we remembered that he needed fish food, so we went over to the hardware store with the pet section. He went in, I stayed in the cool car. Yay.
He dropped off his frozen fish food at the house and then we went grocery shopping. I was trying to get him to decide what to do for dinner when we drove by the yakitorya. He suggested yakitori and I was fine with that. I asked about his mother, should I get her a bento, but F decided to get yakitori for her too. We parked in the grocery store’s parking lot and F called and placed an order at the yakitori place. It would take about 20 minutes to prepare and cook.
I went into the store and did the grocery shopping. I got something for K’s lunch tomorrow, breakfast for K and F, and something for dinner for tomorrow. I did get a salad for tonight as well.
I paid at the store and then I went out to the car. We drove back to the Yakitori place and F picked up our stuff. We drove back to the house.
I put away the groceries and F tried to prepare the yakitori. He put it on plates and then changed the plates and really annoyed me. He doesn’t wash the dishes, so he doesn’t care if he uses ten plates for dinner when three would do. Ack. I had to wash the glasses from last night as they hadn’t bothered to do it. By the time we actually got to eat the yakitori it was getting cold which annoyed me to no end. I love hot food hot.
Still, overall the yakitori was good, and it was nice to have all of us at the table at once. F brought out dishes for our salad too, pleasing me even more!
As usual, I did get to do the dishes. I guess I’m supposed to be happy that I didn’t have to cook too, but I wasn’t really.
When I finished the dishes I headed upstairs to cool down the room. It was hot upstairs. I had a quiet evening. At 10:45 I watched Yellowstone. It was good and a bit sad in places.
And that’s about it for my day. Sometimes today F just drove me up the wall, but he has been so good lately about taking my family members around and being the perfect host that I didn’t get too upset with him!
Tomorrow, I’m not sure what I’m going to get up to. I’d like to do a bit more laundry, maybe some tidying up, but I will have to cook dinner for sure. It’s going to be a busy weekend as I have a dentist’s appointment and we have a meeting with K’s care manager. I’m hoping to fit a movie into there too, but if we can’t I’ll go next week to see it!
