Sunday - Sunny and warmish
I woke up really early this morning. It might have had something to do with the drink bar I had last night. After all I don’t know how decaf the decaf coffee is at Cocos! I made a trip downstairs and then came back to bed. I slept for a bit, F got up to make breakfast for his mother and I went downstairs again around 10:30. I came back to bed and didn’t really sleep that much.
I dragged myself out of bed and got dressed. F came upstairs and we talked about lunch. He said that he didn’t need to eat so I could do what I wanted. That was confusing so I asked him if he meant I should go out alone but he didn’t mean that. Whew.
I reminded him about a place we went once before, Oven Kato. It’s a little place near Mt. Haguro, in the middle of nowhere! It took us about 15 minutes to drive there and the last leg of the trip was down a dirt road. There were a lot of potholes and it was a one lane road. We parked and went into the restaurant.
We both had the same thing, the meat lunch with the drink and dessert set added on. We got a lovely tray of food. We both had stir-fried miso pork on rice with some veggies including okra and eggplant. To drink I had iced tea and F had iced coffee. We each had a little dessert of chiffon cake with cream. It was all very nice. I think it was much nicer this time than the last time we went. Either that, or I was less picky this time!
We debated going to the nearby art gallery, but decided not to. Instead, we drove back into Tsuruoka and came back to the house. Sigh. My nose was running again and I was a tad tired.
We came to the house and I came upstairs. I spent most of the afternoon on my computer. I enjoyed that!
F didn’t cook his mother’s dinner for ages. He went downstairs around 6:30 I think but hadn’t come back by 8:00. I was a little annoyed as he knew that we still had to do grocery shopping and I wanted to visit a drugstore. I went downstairs and he was just sitting in the living room watching TV. Sigh.
He told me that I could have come downstairs earlier to get him. Hmmm. Really? We talked about dinner and I suggested a couple of places. He picked my least favourite option, but it was still okay. We went to Misono. When we were seated they told us that they were out of rice which suited me just fine. I don’t like rice and didn’t want any. F’s dish didn’t have any either. He had chukka soba and I had kara-age without rice. Mine was quite nice, his was okay he said.
We went over to PAL and I did the grocery shopping. Because Tuesday is a national holiday I only bought stuff for one night so it wasn’t too bad. We’re going to have chicken for dinner tomorrow night. I hope it turns out okay.
I put the groceries in the car and then I went over to the drugstore and picked up a few things. I got some cereal and some bathroom cleaner too.
We came back to the house and I asked F if he would make rice for tomorrow. He would. I put away the groceries and then went upstairs.
I had a quiet evening but decided I had enough time to watch a movie so I put on The Menu. It’s leaving Prime soon. It was….odd. I liked it but was quite strange. It had Ralph Fiennes, Anya Taylor-Joy and Nicholas Hoult in it, amongst other people. It was sort of a horror story. I liked it, but I didn’t love it!
And that’s my night really. F is in bed but isn’t sleeping so I should probably get to bed so I can turn out the lights.
Come back later if you like and hear all about my Monday. Until tomorrow….
