Friday

Rain, rain and more rain.

Today was okay. I was a little groggy when I woke up this morning, but not as bad as I was the night before. However, the phone rang around 9 am but they hung up as soon as the answering machine picked up. I was in no mood to race to the phone.

I got up and watched the news and then switched over quickly to watch The Sopranos. I know it's getting near the end, but they are really killing people off. Wow. DO NOT TELL ME HOW IT ENDS. I have purposely avoided reading anything to do with this show's finale. I am enjoying the suspense!

Afterwards I showered and settled in at my computer for a while. I had a quiet afternoon at home. Oh, I switched over at another point of the day and found the last half of Little Miss Sunshine so watched that. It was great. I have to see the rest of the movie sometime. I think Fumihiko would like it too.

I had lunch and watched CSI which wasn't the best idea as they had a very vivid dissection on the show today. Still, I just thanked my lucky stars that I wasn't eating anything that looked like what was on the screen.

I bicycled off to work around 4, which was a little late, but not too bad. I wore my bright red Disneyland raincape, with my pink raincoat underneath. Cool. The point of this is that it was raining slightly, but not much. Still, the roads were a little wet. When I got to the crossing over the main road, I pushed the walk button. The lights changed for me just as a big truck came close to the intersection. It didn't stop, and I didn't expect that it would. I waited on the side. Another car went through the crossing right after the truck. I figured he was either stupid or was driving too close to the truck to see the light change. There was nothing coming for a bit on the left side, and all the cars to my right had stopped, so I set off into the crossing. I was halfway across when I realized that a car had appeared on my left and wasn't stopping. She slowed down, and gave me a huge stare, but I was in serious danger of getting run over by this stupid woman who didn't see the BIG RED LIGHT above her. I had to put the pedal to the metal and really swerve around her. I can tell you that I said a few choice words about her driving and other things. She obviously didn't notice the fact that all the cars coming in the opposite direction were stopped.

I got to the school and had 3 fairly good lesson. I wasn't feeling all that well, so they weren't as good as usual, but with the first student we both survived the experience, so it wasn't all bad. And, he gave me a White Day present too! (I have a sneaking suspicion it was from his mother.)

Afterwards, I cleaned up and did paperwork. I wondered why I didn't hear from my husband, but when I checked my phone I realized it was still off. Oops. I called him and in a few minutes he came to get me.

Tonight's dining experience was care of M's Dining. It was nice. I had chicken with pepper sauce.

We came home and had a quiet evening in. We've had the TV on, Fumihiko watched Lost in Japanese (Sounds like the story of my life!) while I fielded weird questions from him like "How many countries use the alphabet?" How on earth am I supposed to answer that? I don't know.

Anyway, I should get myself off to bed soon so that I can get up and teach tomorrow. I don't know if I'll have 2 lessons or 3 lessons. One of my students didn't really book properly so I'm just going to show up there and if she comes great, and if she doesn't, great.

Gotta go. Night night!

It sounds like road rage is alive and well in Japan. At the moment, I'm cynical enough to say that, if she'd hit you, you'd probably be somehow blamed and have to pay for the damage to her car. :-p

It sounds like your student load is increasing. For me, 3 students is about the max I want to deal with in any given day (though I do sometimes have 4 and on rare occasions 5). Teaching is so tiring compared to other jobs, even with good students.

I'm not sure if it was road rage or road stupidity! Maybe rage on my part and stupidity on hers?

And yes, my students have been increasing lately, although one of last night's students won't be back for a while. I really don't want to do more than 3 classes a day, but I have to occasionally....I will on Tuesday for example.

Thanks for the comment!
