Sunday - Hot, windy and sunny

Today was a good day. I wasn’t sure that it would be because I slept in rather late, even by my standards these days.  I rolled out of bed after 1 pm.  F had already gone out to his mother’s and then come back before I got up.  Still, he was pretty nice about it, and to be honest, I didn’t feel all that great when I woke up. Don’t know why, but…

We had a quick lunch in Kintaro Sushi.  Neither of us ate as much as we usually do, but we both felt full.  I guess that’s a good thing. After lunch, we decided to drive out to Sakata to go to a senbei factory.  I asked if we could detour through a souvenir shop near the station as I was looking for postcards again! We did, and we parked in the 20 minute free parking that the station has.  We got into the store, found what we wanted and paid in less than 20 minutes. Yay us.  I got some gorgeous cards from the Dewa Sanzen Mountains and some Yamagata-ken themed ones.

We got halfway to Sakata, near the mall and F turned off like he was going to the mall.  I asked him if he still wanted to go to Sakata and he rather sheepishly admitted he’d forgotten that we were going there.  He’s so used to taking me to the mall!

We got to the factory but it was closed!  Ack.  We thought we’d try the area around the port as there are a lot of souvenir shops, but they didn’t have the ones we wanted.  We ended up driving back from Sakata and stopping in at the airport to get the senbei we wanted!  Crazy.

There is English on the sign, but it is so small.  Why do I have the feeling that I'd be reading the sign rather than running away if a tsunami happened here?
On our way into Tsuruoka, F asked me if I wanted to go to karaoke.  I hadn’t really planned on it, but I always want to go! We had to go to a different place from our usual. We noticed last night that our usual place has closed.  We went to the same company, just a different location and had a great time.  It was fun.  I sang a bunch of songs, some old favourites, some new ones for me. I enjoyed them all.

After 2 something hours we were done.  We went for dinner to Cocos and I had chicken, F had jambalaya.  Mine was good, his was okay I think.  We hit up the grocery store on the way home. I’ll cook something tomorrow night.  Yay me.

We had a fairly quiet night at home.  We didn’t even turn on the TV.  F prepped another card for Postcrossing, so I helped him a bit when he needed it.  He’s getting much faster at it now. He doesn’t get to do a lot of writing in English, so this is a good thing for him.  His card is going off to Russia.

That’s about it really. It was a good day.  We didn’t fight, didn’t argue, and just had a nice time.  At this rate we might even make it to our anniversary! (fingers crossed, knocks wood) Got to go.  Night!

I understand the joy (and relief) of NOT fighting and arguing.

I have another batch of 5 postcards waiting to be sent and I am off to the post office right now.

Have a good day!

I hope you start getting cards soon! Good for you taking cards to the post office though. I've got 5 travelling...One is now around 40 days to Taiwan, another is 15 days to Russia, so I'm not sure they'll ever get there!

Yes, sometimes we fight all weekend, but didn't this one. I hope we continue into our trip. Fingers crossed!

Have a good day to you too!
