Friday - Cool, but gloriously sunny
A good day.
I got up this morning, did my computer stuff and watched a bit of TV. I watched last week’s The Cape…I understand why it got cancelled, yet I like parts of it. After it was over I found the end bit of Separate Tables and watched that again. One day I hope to see the entire movie from the beginning.
It was after noon and I was still in my PJs so I decided to start on my work. I was just planning to get dressed when F called and asked if I’d like to have lunch. Of course, so I got dressed quickly and when he arrived, we went to the local Chinese restaurant that he likes. Today I had chicken with salad and it was very nice. F had ramen and shrimp in chili sauce. I was very happy with my dish. He brought me home afterwards and then I did the final push with my Christmas Cards. 3 pm was approaching so I finished them, stamped them all with my address, grabbed my post office account book and the info for my payment and headed off to the post office.
When I got to the post office I saw a very interesting sight. There were Yamabushi coming down the street. One of them even had a horn that he was blowing on. Not a thing you see everyday, even in Tsuruoka.
I got the slip to fill out and then went to the machine to make the transfer. I took out just enough to do the transfer, but not the service fee. I figured I’d pay that out of my wallet. Which I couldn’t find. I searched my handbag, my backpack, but it wasn’t there. Yikes. I borrowed money from my school’s wallet (since repaid, btw), made my payment and then headed back home to look for my wallet. My Alien Registration Card is in my wallet, so I was breaking the law by not having it.
I got home, searched the couch, the bedroom, even the bathroom but nothing. Then, I remembered I’d put my wallet in the front pocket of my backpack. I swore at myself rather loudly. I was quite put out. I decided to write out a postcrossing card to cheer myself up. I sent the person a postcard with a picture of a Yamabushi on it, so I hope he likes it!
I went back to the post office, got my Christmas Cards sent (Yay!!!) and came home again.
When F came home tonight, I got dinner ready. Tonight was a pork stirfry. I did what I always do. I bought a back of prepared veggies and then added a few things to it. Except of course I added so many veggies that I didn’t really need the prepared veggies at all!
We had dinner with some canned tea and the leftover couscous. It was quite nice. F did the dishes after his volleyball game was finished.
We went out around 9pm. First we drove to my school to set the heater for tomorrow, then we went to Mister Donut for a doughnut and some tea or cafe au lait. I saw a Canadian guy there and as we were leaving I said hello. I don’t usually, but I’m trying not to be one of “those gaijin” who ignore other foreigners. Anyway we chatted for a couple of minutes before F and I left.
We came home and I watched The Good Wife while F wrote a postcrossing card. It’s fun watching him write. He works so hard on what he says. I can’t imagine writing a card that wasn’t in my own language, but he does a good job. I’m trying to get him away from the “ I am F. I am married. My wife is Canadian.” kind of thing, and more into a friendly casual style. He’s a diligent student!
And that’s about it for my day. I have a class in the early part of the afternoon, then I’m done for the week. Woot. Not sure what we’ll do with ourselves tomorrow night. Come back and find out! Night.

Those Yamabushi looks so cool.
I think it's amazing that F is writing postcrossing cards! My husband kept an English journal the first year we were married but nothing since then. ;)
I love The Good Wife. I hate when there is a break, like now.
They were really cool. They wear different costumes from the ones in the Wikipedia article....
Do you get NHK BS channels? The Good Wife is on Friday night on channel 103 at 11:00 pm. We're on the second season at the moment. I won't let hubs watch anything else when it's on!
And yes, at first F thought Postcrossing was a cult, but then he saw all the cool postcards I was getting and decided to horn in! Now he's got his own collection growing. He's very meticulous too. He writes out each message before he puts it on the card...I check his spelling and grammar when he wants. It's actually a pretty "safe" English learner way to use written English. So many postcrossers have English as a second language that no-one is perfect, plus it's only one card. You don't have to keep up a correspondence with the person it goes to.
Thanks for visiting! :-)
