Sunday - Rainy and then SNOW!

What a day.  I peeked out the curtain this morning at 7 something and there was snow outside, but by the time I got up it was gone.  I got up a couple of times, once was when F had gone out so I checked my email and went back to sleep.

We decided where to go for lunch today and took our bedding with us too. After a false start at a hotel,  we went to Cafe Rivage near the station and had their lunch special. It was waffles with salad and a chicken doria plus drink. It was quite nice, but F thought it was a bit small.

We then went over to the laundromat that we usually use. It was crowded for a change. We were able to wash our sheets and stuff right away, but someone was using the bench so I stood and read for a while.  I’m reading a Dick Francis that I found I hadn’t read…it’s one of the later ones that he wrote with his son.  It’s so good so far.  We dried our stuff when we finally got a dryer.  F and I always disagree about how dry things should be.  With bedding I think the drier the better and I’m willing to go a little longer to make sure, with him, he’s all about saving money.  I get it, but darn it, I don’t want to sleep on damp sheets.

While we were in the laundromat a snowstorm came up.  We got between 5 to 10 cm of wet slushy snow.  It was horrible out there.

After we folded everything and put it in our bags, F took me to the Taiyaki shop and we got a couple of Taiyaki to bring home.  They don’t make the German Potato ones anymore.  That’s a little sad as I really liked them. However, they still make the chocolate ones! Yum.

We came home, ate our Taiyaki and then remade the bed.  It went quite well for a change. Yay us.  After that, we vegged for a while until F started talking about dinner.  I was still dealing with my women’s group problem, so I told F I wasn’t interested. However, I realised I wasn’t going to finish anytime soon, so I decided dinner was a good idea.

We decided first to go to a place I don’t like much, but it was really busy.  After that, we tried another place but it was closed.  I suggested going to New York, New York, so we went there.  And it was a good thing too.  We found out tonight that they are going to close…and tonight was the last night.  Oh no!  What will I do without my Grilled Chicken with Sweet Herb Butter???  Apparently it’s going to be an Italian restaurant next.  I’m sad for the waitresses that work there.  I hope they’ll be able to keep working.

We came home through the grocery store and I bought some stuff for dinner tomorrow night.  F and I had a bit of a spat when he suggested I have some of his Japanese style noodles tomorrow night for dinner.  He didn’t like my refusal so I decided that I’ll cook whatever I want to and if he doesn’t like it, he can get his own dinner.  So there!

We came home and I discovered that a student’s mother had emailed me, so F and I spent some time sending her back an email in Japanese.  It’s goodish news.

Oh, and one more thing.  The first place we tried for lunch…we walked in and there was an ex-student of mine standing in the lobby.  He was talking to someone so I’m not sure if he saw me, but I saw him.  We couldn’t go to the restaurant as it was closed for a private function.  I grabbed F and asked him to get the beep out of there.  This man has been trying to get me to teach his daughter for a while but I honestly don’t want anything to do with him. I put up with him and his misogyny and laziness for more than 6 years when I worked for L’Eikaiwa, and frankly, I still can’t even think about the game of table tennis without screaming.  (Long story, no time right now!)

So, all in all, I had a weird day!  Hopefully tomorrow will be better, right?  Night!

Some times you'll have to tell us about the table tennis story.

Have a good day!
