Tuesday - Rain, clearing later in the day

I got up on time this morning. I didn’t want to at all, but I did.  Yay.  I checked my computer and then went to have my shower.

In the morning I used my computer a lot and then had a quick nap before 1pm.  I just was sleepy.  I got started making my lunch and it was good.  I had an omelette with cheese, some leftover chicken and salad and some of the couscous. It was really nice and I enjoyed it all.  I quickly did the dishes and headed out.

It hadn’t seem too bad through the window, but soon after I went outside the rain really got going.  I was soaked before I hit the end of the driveway.  I made it to my school (after a lot of swearing at the weather), parked my bike and went inside and got ready.

My first student came and we had a good class.  We got down to business almost right away.  After we finished the lesson we had a couple of minutes of time left so we started to chat and I mentioned couscous to her. She said she was going to go and buy some!  I hope she likes it if she does.

I was finishing up my paper work and getting ready for the next class when the student called to say that she wasn’t coming.  She had a very busy work day and wouldn’t finish on time.  I did some other work and prepped for her next class as well.  I used my time quite well.  When I was finished everything and was about to call F I realised that it was after 7.  Wow.  I called and he came for me.

He picked me and my bicycle up and we went off to have lunch.  I had suggested Framboise first, but then changed my mind to Coco Ichibanya Curry House.  We went there and had a good meal.  We had just received our plates and were about to dig in when I felt it…earthquake!  It was a big one and lasted quite a while.  It happened over near Iwate I think. After it died down and we realised we weren’t hurt, we ate our dinner.  The curry great, just what we both needed.

We paid and left.  We went to the grocery store and bought stuff for tomorrow’s dinner.  We came home and F watched something on TV. I took over the TV at 11 and watched Criminal Minds while I did a couple of rows of crochet.  Yay!  I am so in love with my Afghan.  It’s going to be so cozy.

And that’s almost it.  One big thing though…today is the 15th anniversary of the day I arrived in Japan. A lot has changed in the world, Japan and me since that day.  Some things have changed for the better, but a lot in the world hasn’t.

Night.

Ugh. Earthquakes are so frightening, aren't they? I have always thought that they wouldn't be so bad if Mother Nature would give us a five minute warning first. But nooooooo, she likes to scare the living *bleep* out of us!

The last earthquake I experienced hit right after I had just pulled into a parking spot. Suddenly all the cars, including mine with me still in it, started shaking violently side to side. I watched lamp posts flopping backwards and forwards like they were made of rubber, and glass windows bending in and out of their window sills in the building in front of me as if they were flags blowing in the wind. It was the most surreal thing I have ever seen! *gulp*

I'm glad to hear you weren't harmed!!

It probably was technically an aftershock from last year, but for some reason we've been having more lately. Yuck!

It wasn't as bad as the one that you described. I'm lucky that I haven't experienced one quite like that. It would freak me out. The big one last year did send shockwaves here too, but fortunately, we didn't have any damage. It was scary enough for me.

Thanks so much for visiting Cora :-)
