Wednesday - Cool and cloudy, clear
Had a pretty good day today.
I got up before House this morning and then watched it. I had a relaxing and extended morning. F called a bit later and asked if I’d like to go and have lunch with him so I said yes.
He picked me up a bit after 12, but we decided not to go to the usual places as there were traffic tie-ups. Instead we went to S-Mall’s restaurant. F had ramen, but I had the lunch special. Mine was excellent, but it was a couple of courses so it took a long time to get to our table. F had to leave to go back to work. I finished my meal, paid (DH gave me money for it!) and then did a little shopping around the mall. I didn’t buy much.
I walked home and then finished some of the things I was working on. F finished on time tonight, so when he called to tell me he was on his way home, I asked if he’d take me to the post office to mail presents to my sister. He was great and helped me!
At the post office I took a few minutes and filled out the forms, then we went back to the counter. It was horribly expensive to send, but it should be there soon.
We had dinner at Cafe Framboise tonight and then bought some groceries and came home. At home I relaxed for a bit and then made an apple crumble. Yes, again! The last one I made wasn’t great, although it tasted good. This one was better, but it didn’t cook as quickly as I wanted it too. It finished so late that F wouldn’t have any. I however would! It was really good. I got the crumble quite nice today. I’ll enjoy some more of it tomorrow night!
I had planned to do some crochet during Castle tonight, but instead I was in the kitchen making the crumble and then putting a loaf of bread together for the bread maker in the morning. F will be the lucky guy who gets to take it out and have some fresh in the morning.
That was my day, more or less. Tomorrow I have the last of my days off and I hope to finally get my Christmas cards started. I’ve decided against doing a Christmas letter this year. It hasn’t been the greatest year so there isn’t much to talk about. Got to go. Night!

I just now got back from mailing out Christmas presents, too. I sent them SAL this time since I'm so early and saved a bundle. I also made sure to only send light things, which helped save on postage too. DD made a knitted soap cover, with soap inside, so that was a bit heavy, but it was small, so it was okay. I learned my lesson last year when I made full-size felted soaps for everyone and they cost a bundle to send. Live and learn, I guess. After 20 years here, you'd think I'd have learned my lesson by now!
I'm glad your crumble came out good this time. Apple crumble sounds scrumptious this time of year. So autumn-y!
We priced all the options and EMS came out the cheapest and the most likely to arrive before Christmas! I don't think I bought as heavy things as I did last year, but the box was still quite big.
I tried the homemade gifts routine with my family 2 years ago and the only person who used them was my nephew. He got a hat with a big pompom on the top, and loved it. My family doesn't go for homemade, more's the pity.
Except of course, for the tablecloth I made my sister for her wedding....That really was a work of love and time! But it was ages ago.
For my other relatives, they usually receive things like Calendars or tea towels, things that are small and easy to send.
Was just thinking I should send an AFWJ calendar to my relatives overseas! Wonder if they'd like that!
PS...I was just commenting on YOUR blog!
SAL small packets is the cheapest by far! It takes two weeks and is a combo of airmail and sea think. Problem is that your parcel has to be under a certain size. I send stuff in the small yubin bag to Australia and it usually costs 600 yen!!
Unfortunately, this wasn't a small packet. It was a huge box with presents for 4 people in it. But, I'll definitely keep it in mind for some of the other things that I send in the future.
Thanks for commenting!
What's a "small yubin bag"? I've never heard of postal bags, except for the large ones for sending books and non-breakables like clothes (called an "M" bag or "G" bag or something like that). I'm always keen to learn the cheapest way to send things overseas.
