An okay day.
I slept in late this morning. I was very tired because I went to bed very late again. I received an email from a student cancelling her class for tomorrow. She’d had a death in her family. Of course I allow make ups for a reason like that.
I had a quiet morning at home. I watched a lot of TV. This week, they have given us a free preview of Fox 238 again, so there are more programmes to choose from. Yay.
In the afternoon, I wrote another postcard and then scanned the ones I’d written. I was quite quick today.
When F came home he was in a bad mood. I was a bit worried about him. I asked him where he’d like to go for dinner and he suggested a place that is an automatic NO for me. He got even huffier then and demanded that I pick a place. So, I did. I tried to give him a choice of 3 places (which he NEVER does for me) but he wouldn’t pick one!
We left the apartment and went to my school to set the heater for my class tomorrow. Then, we went to Gusto for dinner. I had chicken and French fries, they weren’t bad at all. F had Japanese comfort food, which was probably good for him!
We bought groceries and then mailed my postcards. We came home and then both of us got busy. We made bread! Onion bread to be exact. I worked on caramelising the onions, while F made up the bread mix. He was having a hard time understanding what I wanted him to do though. I wanted him to start the bread machine and then at the right time I’d add the onions as they would probably be done by that time. And, they were! Caramelising took a long time, but went well I think. I took the onions out of the pan a few minutes before I had to put them in my bread maker. They looked gorgeous and tasted great.
I watched a few of my usual programmes and somewhere along the way, F went to bed. I took the bread out of the machine a few minutes ago and it looks amazing. I half want to dig in to it now, but if I do, F won’t get any breakfast!
Tomorrow I’m back to work. I’m trying to decide if I’ll be able to ride my bike or not. I’m hoping we don’t get a lot more snow overnight! Come back tomorrow night and see what happens tomorrow. Night!

Do do do do, do do do do... (that's supposed to be the Twilight Zone theme...). I've been making onion bread lately too, for my sandwich bread. I'm too lazy to carmelize onions first, so I've been using freeze dried onions and a touch of onion powder instead. It smells heavenly when it's baking, but the onion taste is rather weak. I bet yours came out great.
Honestly, it is amazing! I just had a couple of pieces of it and I can't wait to have more! I had one with cheese on top toasted and really it was to die for.
I've read that you can caramelise the onions in a slow cooker, so I'm thinking of doing that next time. One hour of work for one loaf of bread is a little bit too long for me!
I'll probably post pictures here tonight, so stay tuned!
Now you've got me looking up a recipe for onion bread!!!
It was a bit of work... I didn't use an exact recipe, but I caramelised 2 medium onions and added that to my bread maker machine when you would put raisins in for raisin bread. If you use a bread maker...we just used the regular bread setting and told it that we'd add raisins. You can't use the delayed start though, as the onions might stick in the raisin cup.
Come back for pictures!
