Friday - Hot and Sunny
A not very good day.
I had my usual morning at the house and things were fine. I got a couple of postcards in the mail too. I got a call from F to say that he was going to take the afternoon off. Sigh.
When he called after he finished at his office I told him I hadn’t eaten yet and I asked if I should eat quickly. He said no, that we’d go out for lunch. Like an idiot, I listened to him.
When he got back to the house, he suggested going to the aquarium in Kamo with his mother and having lunch there. Okay….er….whatever.
I changed into nicer clothes and then we left. We drove to the aquarium and went to the restaurant. the menu was totally in Japanese, tons of kanji and since it was for fish, I had no idea what any of it meant. I asked F for help and he rattled off what everything was, but none of it made any sense to me. I had no idea. Finally, I asked him to just pick something for me, but he wouldn’t. He got really mad at me and wanted to leave. I picked something expensive but so what. We found a seat and then the waitress came over and said mine was sold out. Sigh. I ended up ordering what F had. I really didn’t care that much anyway. One type of raw fish is pretty much like another one to me.
We picked up our fish and it was fine. It was some kind of sashimi on rice with seaweed on top, plus miso soup. It wasn’t fabulous, but it was fine. It certainly wasn’t worth all the damn fuss.
We walked around the aquarium a bit, but as soon as we got in F wanted to go and see the sea lion show. Yawn. We had to try and hustle his mother over there. She was slow and I was disinterested so when we got to the theatre the seats were full and I was standing at the back where I couldn’t see over the crowd. I didn’t care that much anyway.
After the main show finished many people left so F’s mother sat down. We watched another training or feeding and then went back to the Jellyfish. I really love seeing the jellyfish, so it didn’t matter that it was crowded. K looked at every tank, it was quite funny. Finally, we were done. We went outside for a few minutes, then did the washroom thing, then started all over again at the beginning! The reason was we’d missed most of the fish part in the beginning. The good thing is there weren’t any other people as the aquarium was going to close in 20 minutes!
We finished and then we came back to the house. F asked about dinner but I told him truthfully that I wasn’t hungry yet. I came upstairs to our room and used my computer. F came up and napped. After a while, I went for a nap, and F went downstairs. When I woke up, the first thing I thought of was K and asked if we should get her something. F said he’d made her some food earlier.
He proceeded to take a nap and I went downstairs and got my lunch food. I had that for my dinner and it was lovely. It was light and delicious and fuss-free. I brought it upstairs to eat and offered F a sandwich but he said no. I ate, he snoozed.
Later, he asked if I wanted to get some food and I pointed out that I had just eaten. He got really mad at me AGAIN and said he was going to the onsen and to get himself some food. Okay then.
He went off and I watched my stuff, he came back and ate and drank a bit. I asked if he’d like to watch The Good Doctor with me and he said he would. I put it on and did some joining of blanket squares during it. F, of course, fell asleep towards the end.
He’s still snoozing now. I know he took part of the day off because he didn’t feel well, but I’m really not sure why he wanted to drag his mother all over the aquarium today. She was okay, but needed to sit down more.
I have two days with Mr. Grumpy and I’m not really looking forward to them. Hopefully, I’ll be back tomorrow night and will report on a brilliant day. Wish me luck with that! Until tomorrow….
