Saturday - Sunny and hot
Had quite a busy day today despite a slow start. F went off to the doctor early, I stayed in bed and slept in. When F came back, he went back to bed and I got up! He snoozed for a bit, but then we went out for lunch. First though, F went off to get his mother something for her lunch.
F and I went to Futaba and had a lovely meal. I had the quiche and F had the paella. We were both pleased. After lunch, we visited a festival going on near the city hall. To be honest, I didn’t want to go as the sun was extremely strong and I wasn’t wearing sunscreen. I had on very casual sandals and a hat that isn’t terribly good for blocking sun rays. I tried to explain to F that I couldn’t stay out in the sun long, but he got a bit testy. We went to the festival and there wasn’t too much going on. They were supposed to have a concert or something but I didn’t hear it. There was a bit of food available, but we’d just had a lovely lunch so I didn’t need it!
F decided that he’d like to go and see the new movie in town. I had thought about it earlier and decided I’d skip it since it was about US politics. It started at 3:35 and it was now 2:35. F suggested a museum, but I said I didn’t think we could do it justice in 50 minutes or so. I countered with going to S-Mall to get something from the hundred yen shop. That’s what we did. I got a couple of things at Daiso and then we left for the movie theatre.
We went to see Vice today and it was great. I was quite surprised at how good it was. No, take that back. I knew it was good because it was up for a lot of Academy Awards, but I didn’t think I’d like it as much as I did. Christian Bale was Dick Cheney as far as I could see! It was a film that broke the fifth wall quite often, but it worked in the way they did it.
After the film, we went to the grocery store to get bentos for all of us. I got a Chinese bento, and the other two seemed to enjoy theirs. Mine was good but seemed a little small. F and I cleaned up after dinner and then we got ready to go out.
We went out to Yutagawa Onsen tonight to see if we could see any fireflies and we could! Yay! I think there were more than last year. We spent 20 or 30 minutes watching the little bits of light dancing around. We’re planning to take a friend of mine out there tomorrow night too.
After a brief stop at the house, we went out to Komeda Coffee and had some decaf and cake. We spent quite a bit of time there and then left before they closed. This time, we weren’t the last people!
We went around MaxValu quickly and then came back to the house. I had planned to shower, but changed my mind. I watched a bit of TV and made a few notes about Vice.
And that’s about it. It’s fairly cool in our room now. Last I looked it said 22 degrees, which is almost cold!
Tomorrow we’re supposed to meet friends at the aquarium and then meet another friend. It should be interesting! Come back later and see how Sunday goes. Until tomorrow….
