Thursday - Rainy in the morning, sunny and warm later on

When my alarm went off this morning, I hit the snooze button, but the second time it went off, I got up. I grabbed my breakfast and then ate it, washed my bowl and then did my hair. I came back upstairs and got dressed. I was ready a couple of minutes early and it was a good thing as the taxi was already waiting outside for me. They are booked for half an hour before my class, then tend to arrive five minutes before that time. I don’t mind usually.

I can’t really say much about today’s teaching. It went well, and I enjoyed seeing a bunch of the students again. They are all nice people.

After class finished, I got changed and then I went off for lunch with my friend. We went to a restaurant that I’ve only been to once or twice and it was very nice.  I had a Kabocha Doria and it was really delicious. It came with soup and a salad. We both had desserts, a parfait each. Believe it or not, but this is the small version!

My friend and I both became quite tearful during our meal. In a couple of days she’s off to England as she has decided to leave Japan.  It’s very sad for me and she said some lovely things about our friendship. I’m getting verklempt…tawlk amongst yourselves for a minute….

She drove me back to the house and I came inside. I didn’t see K, although I did use the Japanese phrase for saying I came in. I went upstairs and spent some time reading and answering email and watching the news. I didn’t get a call from F after he finished work, so didn’t know if he did finish work or not.

I went downstairs and started getting ready to make dinner. I heard F come in and he popped his head into his living room and asked his mother something. I popped my head out into the hallway and said hello. He was surprised to see me. Apparently he had just asked his mother if she’d like to go out for ramen. Hmm.  We’d bought groceries for tonight’s dinner. What the blazes was he thinking. (Answer: He wasn’t.) He thought I was working late tonight. I understand a bit, but I thought he knew that today I worked early and Friday I work late.

He decided to make udon for his mother and himself, not really caring that I was also making food for everybody and he was in my way. I tried to get on with what I was doing, but he had both burners going and I was trying to get the chicken in the toaster oven and prepare the broccolini for stir-frying. He let the water in the pot and kettle boil over and was a tad upset with me when I asked him to clean it up. He did a bad job of it of course.

He finished his bloody noodles and then took them out to the living room for his mother and himself. I’m still cooking away when he came back into the kitchen and said something like,” I don’t need any dinner” and stumbled off up the stairs.

I continued to cook, it was only a couple of minutes longer anyway, and then took things out to the table. K had her noodles, I don’t think she had eaten any yet, and she had some of my nice food. I had done Lemon Pepper chicken, garlic broccolini and lovely baby leaf lettuce salad. Oh, and I’d also made up some of the nice raspberry/pomegranate vinegar drink that we all seemed to like.

I ate, so did K, and then of course, I ended up doing all the dishes. I left the leftovers of his soup on the table, exactly where he did. Not my problem.

I put the leftovers in the fridge for our lunches tomorrow.

I came upstairs and watched a bit of a movie on TV, then turned off the telly. I took a shower tonight too. I had hairspray in my hair and thought I should get it out.

In the hours since dinner, I haven’t been spoken to at all. I don’t really care since I have much more fun without him at the moment.

I wanted to talk to him about my friend and how I felt but he managed to avoid all that kind of thing.

Tomorrow I have to plan my two classes for tomorrow night and I may have to figure out how to get somewhere to sleep if he keeps being an idiot. I’m sure that he will somehow. I hope he won’t.

Come back later if you like and hear all about what happens. Until tomorrow….
