Friday - Sunny but rainy in the evening

I woke up this morning bright and early when F’s alarm went off. Grr! I smacked it off and about 3 seconds later he came back in the room. I asked him to turn it off, which he did. I went downstairs and saw him off, then went back to bed and turned off some of my alarms!

When I got up, I did some of the usual stuff I do, I watched the news and then made the bed and got dressed. I went downstairs to grab my breakfast and while I was there decided to make a plate for K’s lunch. There was lots of leftover bibinba rice and chap chae from yesterday, so I put some in a bowl for her and put her chopsticks on top of it so she would know that it was for her. I have nice moments, really I do.

I came upstairs, ate my breakfast and then got stuck into my column. Today, the writing flowed fairly well and I think I got it shaped up quite well. I even tried recording myself reading it tonight and I liked it. My readers won’t get to hear me reading it though, but I hope the ones who know me will be able to hear my voice as they read it!

We hadn’t gone out for groceries last night, so I didn’t really plan on cooking. When F came back tonight I asked what he wanted to do. We could cook, get bentos or go out. He chose the latter. He tried to make a reservation at the cheap sushi place we go to sometimes, but we wouldn’t be able to get in before 9 pm…and it was around 6:30 when he checked their app! He had a brainwave and suggested a good soba restaurant. He called, made a reservation and then a few minutes later, the three of us piled in the car.

We had a lovely meal at Nagomi. I had my favourite hot soba with duck. They flavour it with a little bit of yuzu in the broth, it cuts through the slight oiliness of the duck perfectly. F had a udon and tempura set and his mother had the Bloom book special. I’ve had it before. It’s basically udon with squid leg tempura. It’s really nice. So, we all enjoyed our meals.

We came back to the house and after a few minutes discussing what we’d like to do, went out again. Well, not K. She went to bed.

F and I went to Cocos and had their Halloween Mud Pie. We shared it and also had drink bar. The waitress told us that we couldn’t get the discounted drink bar unless we ordered two desserts, so F ordered a really pretty one that was on sale on their app. We split both desserts and they were nice. The mud pie wasn’t a North American Mud Pie, it was basically scoops of ice cream and some whipped cream on a deep fried tortilla half. It is nice, but not a pie. We had drink bar and even chatted a bit before we both used our phones. I’ve been reading back in my blog recently and F and I had a disastrous time there a few years ago where he completely ignored me and was rather nasty to boot, so I’m glad that didn’t happen tonight.

We came back to the house and I watched my Friday night shows and tweaked my column. I tried using the speech function on my computer, but it pronounced some words strangely, so I decided to read it into my phone and then listen to the column. I really liked it. Now I just have to send it in. I’ve decided not to do it tonight as I’m a bit tired.

Well, that’s it folks. My day. It was quite good really. Just a heads up that I’m going out of town on Sunday and the plan is to leave early in the morning. I’m not sure if I’ll be blogging tomorrow night, so if I don’t, have a happy Halloween and I’ll be back soon to fill you in on all the details.

Trick or treat!

Hi Helen,
I hope you are ok. It's not like you to miss blogging two days in a row.

Hi! I'm fine...I did mention above that I was going out of town and might skip Saturday night and because of said trip Sunday night too. That last part wasn't stated exactly, but should have been!

I'm back and will hopefully blog tonight....Don't wait up for me though ;-)
