Saturday - Warm and sunny
I woke up early this morning, F strikes again! I went back to sleep fairly soon though. I got up at 10 this morning and grabbed breakfast. I ate and got dressed.
Around 11 am F and I went over to the doctor’s office. We were there early for our appointment, but we had to wait about an hour to be seen. Good thing I had brought a book with me. The doctor, when we did get to see him, told me that he hasn’t had his Covid vaccination yet. Japan is so damn slow.
After we finished at the Doctor’s office we picked up our meds. We talked about lunch and then I suggested a Japanese Farmer’s restaurant. I know F likes it and I do too. He did suggest another place and we checked it out, but it was only open for take-out which I didn’t want.
We went to Naa and it was great. The restaurant was nearly empty so we got a table right away. F had the smaller meal with only fish, I had the bigger meal with fish and pork. It was really nice. Lots of local veggies…I wish I knew how to cook them the way that they do. Over lunch, I asked if we could drop into Hard Off, the big second-hand store that was on the way back into Tsuruoka. He said it would be okay, and that’s what we did.
We drove to Hard Off and on the way, I said that I was looking for a different baking dish. I need something a little smaller than my casserole dish, but bigger than the new plate I got at Daiso. And…miracle of miracles…I found one at Hard Off! It looks like it is in great condition, so I got F to buy it for me. Searching the DVD section I also found the Back to the Future trilogy which we didn’t have and I got Inception on Blu-ray for quite a low price. Woot.
After we left the store, F asked if we could go and look at a fishing gear store. Of course, I said yes. We did check out one in Tsuruoka but ended up going over to Sakata to a store there. F bought himself another fishing rod, it might have been second-hand, I’m not sure. Probably was as it wasn’t too expensive!
We both needed washrooms after the shop so we went to the nearby Doutor. I bought us some drinks and while we were there I signed up for the online app too. Woot?
Over our drinks, I asked F about dinner and he came up with an idea. Sakata has a very popular fried chicken take-out place. He suggested getting three bentos for us. I was okay with that, so that’s what we did. We got bentos and came back to Tsuruoka and the house. K had gone to bed, so F got her up!
We had a nice dinner and over said dinner, F found some English programming on NHK. There was a kind of time travel show and then a show on the Natural Museum in London. It was so interesting. F was watching it with me too.
I got to do the dishes which pleased me so much. I used the time at the sink to wash my new baking dish, so that was something I suppose. It didn’t take that long to do the dishes, I was just surprised that no one else volunteered to do it.
We came upstairs after a while and basically, F went to sleep right away and I didn’t. I watched something on Apple TV and then something on real TV.
So that’s it for me. I really should try and get to bed soon. It’ll be daylight otherwise!
Come back later if you like and hear all about Sunday. Until tomorrow….
