Saturday - Sunny and warm, with a surprise heavy shower in the middle
Today ended up being okay. It didn’t start that well to be honest, but it did improve happily.
I went to bed when it was quite light outside, so I didn’t wake up until 10 am when my alarm went off. I went downstairs and then came back up. F went downstairs to make K’s breakfast ramen (say what?) so I snoozed for a little, but then got up and got dressed.
When F came back upstairs he was rather grumpy. He both demanded that I pick a place to have lunch in and whined that it was too late for him to make a reservation. I didn’t know what he was on about. I’ve told him multiple times that if he wants to make plans for the day to tell me the night before and I’ll get up. If we don’t have plans, then why should I? Finally, to shut him up I suggested going to the tonkatsu restaurant at the Bussankan, the Bus Station/tourist area. He grumpily agreed and that’s where we ended up going.
We had a decent meal. I had tonkatsu and it was fine. I should have used more mustard. F had something else, I’m not exactly sure what he had. He didn’t like it much. Colour me so surprised!
Since we were in the area, I asked if we could go over to Shimamura, the cheaper clothing store, to see if I could get some socks. Lately, I’ve put holes in many of my socks and they need to be replaced. He agreed and we went over. There were parking spaces today which was a lovely surprise. Usually, there aren’t. We went in and both of us got socks. I got mine in a light colour so they won’t get mixed up with his. At F’s suggestion, I tried on a couple of dresses but didn’t get them. One was fine but to be honest, I didn’t love it and I didn’t really know when I’d wear it. Better leave it for someone else then.
After our shopping trip, F took us to Starbucks. That was a bit of a surprise. He had his usual Frappuccino and I had a decaf latte. I enjoyed mine. We had nice chairs and had use of the wifi, so we're happy for a little bit.
When we finished, we popped over to S-Mall and visited the hundred yen shop. It was F’s idea this time, not mine! He got some earphones which I wish he wouldn’t, but always does. We also went to the grocery store downstairs and bought a bento for K and a six-pack of chocolate muffins from Costco. We came back to the house and I froze 2 of the muffins right away. F “hid” the muffins and didn’t leave them where K would find them immediately.
We left and went out to Mikawa. F wanted to buy some stuff for the garden so we went to the hardware shop first. It took a while and F wandered around the store a lot looking for things. I was a tad worried if we’d get to the movie in time, but it all worked out.
After F got his stuff, we moved the car closer to the mall and went in. We went upstairs and bought our tickets for Cruella. We got some popcorn and drinks and went to see the movie. It was okay. I wanted to love it as I like both Emmas, but there was something missing. Maybe the film dragged a bit or being a Disney film they couldn’t really get wicked. I liked it, would watch it again on DVD or something, but it wasn’t quite there for me.
We did check out the food court in the mall, but it was either closed or closing soon, so we came back to Tsuruoka. I suggested a couple of places to have dinner and F agreed with my idea of Kula Sushi.
We went and were able to get in right away despite not having a reservation. We were seated and had some sushi and some deep-fried stuff. Sadly, the fries weren’t great tonight and the sushi was okay. I liked a bit of it, but F wasn’t too happy.
We came back to the house after our dinner and relaxed. K was surprisingly still up. I don’t know if she was staying up to yell at us or what, but she didn’t as far as I know.
I came upstairs and F was up a few minutes later. I gave us some decaf coffee from the fridge downstairs and then I watched my FBI show. After it was over I watched The Worst Witch from earlier in the day. It is sort of sweet and fun.
And that’s about it for my day. It turned out much better than it started, but I don’t really have a clue how things will go tomorrow. I will have to do some grocery shopping but what else, I’m just not sure. Come back later if you like and hear all about my day. Until tomorrow….
