Monday - Cloudy and windy, then clearing and nice
Today was a surprisingly nice day considering we never had any plans all day! I went to bed really late again last night and woke up this morning when my alarm went off. F was downstairs cooking something incredibly smelly in the kitchen. He offered me some but I turned him down.
We went out to the Bussenkan, the new section and had tonkatsu at the restaurant there. It was quite nice and the restaurant was not busy. That was a big surprise considering it is Golden Week and it is in a tourist area.
After lunch, we decided that we’d just like to hang out somewhere, so F suggested a place that he’d found on the internet a couple of days ago. I asked how long it would take to get there and he said about half an hour. No prob.
We set off and got a bit lost on the way. I found the place on my phone and gave F directions to it. We finally got there, and it was closed!
I looked for another place on my phone and found a couple that sounded promising. F picked one of them and we headed off. We ended up in the back of the beyond. It was along country roads and out in the complete boonies. And when we finally found the place…it was closed! We drove back towards Tsuruoka for a bit and then F remembered there was a farmer’s market type of place in the area so he drove there. We found it and they were open!
F bought some pickled turnips for K and got each of us a soft ice cream cone in an acorn flavour. It didn’t have a strong taste, it was nice though.
We came back into Tsuruoka and still wanted something to eat! F seemed to drive all over the city again, but finally, we ended up at Cafe Studio Cinq. We each had a coffee and ordered ourselves some pain-au-chocolate. It was amazing!
After our drinks, we went back to the house and relaxed for a bit. That was nice too. Around 7:00 we started discussing what to do for dinner. I suggested going for sushi and F was okay with that. He made us a booking and the two of us went to the grocery store to pick up something for K’s dinner.
We drove back to the house, F popped in and gave her the bento we bought and then we went off for our dinner. We got to Kula Sushi and were able to get in right away. It wasn’t busy either. Surprising!
We had an okay meal. We shared some fries, had a lot of okay sushi and then filled up the car with gas. All the driving around had been bad for the gas tank!
We just went back to the house after that and had a quiet night in. I watched The Good Wife and then turned off the TV. F went to bed a while ago and I should go fairly soon…hope I will!
Tomorrow I am not quite sure what we’ll get up to. I had suggested taking K out for a drive tomorrow since the weather is supposed to be nice. We’ll see if she’s up to it and if the weather is as nice as we hope.
