Saturday - Rainy and humid

I didn’t set an alarm this morning, so I didn’t really wake up. I did make an early trip downstairs and then decided to just go back to sleep! I got back into bed and woke up a couple of hours later.

F and I talked about lunch. He went downstairs and heated up some leftovers from last night for his mother. After that, he came upstairs again and suggested that we go for tonkatsu. I thought he meant another place, but we got that sorted out and went to a good place.  When we got there, we had something called a pair set. Basically, we had some grilled pork on rice and a big bowl of tonjiru (pork soup) that we shared. We got a small salad with it and there was water and tea that we could grab for ourselves easily.

We ended up getting soaked going back to the car as it was pouring. Then we went to the other building to use the washroom. We were just in that building for a few minutes.

We went across the street to the Megane shop, also known as the glasses shop. We picked up our glasses. F’s are really nice, mine are nice too, but they told me that they aren’t giving me any warranty on them because the pair they are replacing were already off the warranty. I know that makes sense. I do quite like the ones I got. I got beautiful purple frames and they are light too. Woo!

After we finished at the shop, I requested that we go for a drink. We went to S-Mall and got drinks at Doutor. We sat for a while and used the wifi. After a bit, we checked out the grocery store and tried to get something for K’s dinner. F picked up a bento for her and I suggested an egg dish that he bought.

I did a quick trip around the hundred yen shop and then we went back to the house. F gave his mother her bento and we had a couple of minutes before we headed back out to the mall.

We went to the mall in Mikawa to see Black Widow. I really enjoyed it. As usual, Florence Pugh stole the show, but the four main characters were all quite interesting and fun. I liked the story and that it didn’t take itself too seriously. I had a sad moment in the movie as my popcorn fell on the floor. I was quite upset! I had eaten most of it but I wanted the rest!

After the film, we thought about going to get something to eat. F did suggest a good place in Sakata, but I reminded him that it was quite expensive. I countered with Gusto. He wasn’t happy with that idea. Of course, he wanted a ramen shop. I suggested that he drop me off at a Gusto and he go for ramen. He didn’t like that idea. He asked me where my favourite place in Tsuruoka was. I told him quite bluntly that I didn’t have one. I don’t. If I did like a place, he ruined it for me one way or another, or I just don’t like the places. I really dislike eating Japanese food these days, and he won’t go for other styles of food with me. How can I have a favourite?  I like Greek food, Mexican food and other foods where they use fresh ingredients that have flavour. There aren’t any of those in Tsuruoka.

He drove me to Gusto, gave me some money and said that he was going to wait in the car for me. I told him I’d be a while, and I was. I had a pretty basic dinner, some chicken with tartar sauce, a small order of fries and the drink bar. It was okay. It wasn’t great, but I didn’t have to cook it or clean it up afterwards. Yay.

We came back to the house and F made himself some ramen. I watched a bit of TV and then got stuck into my blogging.  That’s about it for today.

I’m not really sure what we’ll get up to tomorrow. We might go to the museum or we might just stay here. I hope not!

Come back later if you want and read all about my Sunday. Until tomorrow….
