Monday - Humid and cooler

I woke up this morning before F left for work and went downstairs. I was able to say goodbye to him before he left so that was nice. I came back to bed and slept a little later, but got up only a little late. I watched the news and then I got dressed.

I had a quiet morning around here. I listened to a podcast featuring a woman I know over here who farms. After that, I went over my classes again and then got a text from F asking him to call me later in the day. I said I would.

I called F on time and he said that he was going to come back to the house. I think he was having a bad day.

I grabbed my lunch and brought it back upstairs. I ate and F came back just about the time I finished lunch. He relaxed and I worked on my work stuff.

Around 5 F said that he’d like to go to his doctor so off he went. I went downstairs around 5:30 to start dinner. First I washed some tomatoes for K, and then took out the cucumbers I had. Unfortunately, I was out of the spice packets that I use with the cucumber, so I texted F and asked him to pick me up some at the store on his way back. I also asked for some sandwich meat as I had forgotten to get any this weekend.

F came back around 6:30 with meat for me but no spice packet. Instead, he had an idea. He was going to concoct a spicy salad. I think he wanted me to do it at first, but I turned him down. I was making curry and had a lot to do. Last night, they didn’t have any of the cut curry meat, so I got a couple of small roasts and cut them up. I hadn’t got around to washing the cutting board yet, but I had put it in the washing-up basin.

F washed the board but I didn’t think thoroughly enough. He was going to smash up the cucumbers. I offered him my smaller cutting board to use on the table but he ignored me. He put the board on the table and it was soaking. Water got everywhere. He nearly dropped the cucumbers a couple of times. When he finished smashing the cucumbers, he put them in the bowl and then put the bowl back on the side of the sink. He rinsed the cutting board and then put it back in its place, leaning against the window. Unfortunately, it slipped down, knocking the bowl off the counter and onto the floor. We had cucumbers, seaweed and sesame oil everywhere. Happily, the bowl didn’t break, but we lost all of the cucumber mixture he’d made. F did clean it all up and I felt really bad for him. He was upset with himself, but it was his fault really. I was still working on my curry. By now it was bubbling away in my pot.

Dinner was quite late tonight, at least 30 minutes later than “usual” but it was good. There was salad, and curry and rice. F really likes my curry and even offered it up for sale on Twitter! I commented on his feed that he had better be splitting the money with the cook!!

K got up for dinner and we had a nice meal. After dinner she went back to bed, F left the room and I got to do the dishes. Yay me. I didn’t really mind. I listened to the news and my movie podcast so I was fine.

I came upstairs to relax a bit. After 10:30 I took a shower and then watched The Good Wife. The show is winding down I think, although it keeps my interest going.

So, that’s it for me. Tomorrow F is off work. He’s taking K to get her second Covid-19 vaccination and then he is free. I work in the afternoon and have told F that he’s in charge of dinner. I kind of hope he’s going to take us out, but I have the feeling that he’ll be trying to concoct something in the kitchen, or reheating my curry. That wouldn’t be the end of the world or anything.

Come back later if you like and hear how my day went. It’s a bit nerve-wracking at the moment. Until tomorrow….
