Friday - Sunny in the am, snowy later on
I woke up when F was getting ready, but I managed to fall back asleep. Yay. When I got up, F had left.
After my trip downstairs, I watched the news. I snoozed a bit when it was over, but I left the TV on with an opera on it. It was very stylistic and kind of cool. F called me when I was snoozing and wanted to talk about my holiday next month. Basically, he was trying to invite himself along. I tried to be diplomatic but basically, let him know that I wasn’t inviting him to come and stay in the hotel with me as I’d already made my reservation for a single room. I tried to tell him that I could meet him in Yamagata city if he liked and we could either stay there that night or do a Costco trip and then drive back to Tsuruoka together. At one point, he was trying to invite himself for Friday night in Sendai and then coming back on Saturday, which is NOT what I want to do at all. However, I’m quite sure that I’m going to have to cancel my trip anyway because of Omicron. I think it is starting to take hold in Japan and it seems to be a bit selfish to think of going away and possibly putting my family at risk when I come back. I will think on…
I went outside around 11am this morning and shovelled snow again. The snowplough had gone through so F’s parking space was blocked again. I got it cleaned out. While I was doing that, the mailman stopped by with a Christmas card for me and a nengajo too. Woot. A little bit later, the water person brought the invoice.
When I finished shovelling snow, I grabbed my purse and walked over to the nearest vending machines. I got a couple of hot drinks and brought them back to the house. I gave one to K and brought the other one upstairs to drink.
I had a fairly quiet afternoon. I didn’t have breakfast as breakfast today, I had it as “dessert” for my lunch. I watched some news and then the US news at 4 pm.
F called around 5:15 to say he was on his way so I went downstairs and got started on dinner. There wasn’t too much to do tonight because we were cleaning out the fridge, but I did do a stirfry.
F came in and we had a little chat before he headed upstairs. I got on with dinner. Tonight we had a chicken teriyaki pizza, nikuman, salad and a mushroom/veggie stirfry. I got stuff on the table and called F down. We had a pretty nice dinner actually. It wasn’t balanced or anything, but it worked. At the end, I added in the last of the fruitcake and that made a nice mini dessert.
I did the dishes and then came upstairs. When F came up he asked if I’d like to go out. I said I wouldn’t but if he wanted to I would. He didn’t really want to!
We had a quiet night in. I took a shower just before midnight and watched a bit of YouTube.
It’s a long weekend here. I’m not sure what we’ll get up to. I’m hoping for a quick trip to the cinema to see the latest Spiderman, but we’ll see how it goes.
