Monday - Cloudy and cold, light snow in the morning
I woke up early this morning. F had been up before me and had left one of the lights on. I’m not sure if that is what woke me up, but it could have been. I went back to sleep and when my alarm went off I woke up.
I had a hard time getting up though. It was cozy in bed and the room was not warm by any stretch of the imagination. I stayed in bed a bit too long, finally dragged myself out of bed after 9:00. I snoozed for a bit though.
I had a fairly quiet day. I didn’t see K until the afternoon. She’s acting strange again. Well, to be honest, when isn’t she? Today when I was making my lunch, she came into the kitchen on her way to the washroom (probably), saw me, turned around and left the room. I had even smiled and said hello, so not sure why she would do that.
F texted me in the afternoon to ask if I’d call him at a specific time. It gave me a bit of a chill when he asked that as he asked me to do that on March 11th too. Yes, that March 11th. He left work early today to go to the doctor again about his knee. One good thing is they have scheduled an MRI I think for it in a couple of weeks. I hope we get some answers about what is going on with it.
He also picked up his glasses today. He came back to the house, but it was time for me to go down to the kitchen and get a start on dinner. We had a meet and greet in the hall outside the kitchen!
Tonight I made tacos with some kabocha soup on the side. The soup was from a carton, but it was good, so don’t judge me! The tacos were pretty popular. I put out some of the tortilla chips too and quite a few were eaten. The meal was quite nice and there’s a little bit leftover. I might be able to make K a plate tomorrow if I have time. Or not. Maybe on Wednesday?
I had a wack of dishes to do tonight but they got done eventually. As per usual, no help was given to me. Sigh. I’m starting to wonder if they see me as the kitchen maid or what? I listened to my podcasts and enjoyed them, so that was good.
After I finished I came upstairs and read my book for a while. I finished it too. Yay. It was A Single Thread by Tracy Chevalier and I really liked it. It was set in the time between the first and second World Wars. It was about a woman who learned about the embroidery that was being done to decorate cushions and kneelers in the cathedral in her city and how she joins the group of women to learn how. There are many other things happening too. Violet Speedwell was a “Surplus Woman”. Her fiancĂ© had died in the war, and she wasn’t married or likely to be married. Anyway, I liked it and it was nice for me to be reading a good author again. I’ve been enjoying the freebies I’ve been reading lately, but this was a novel. A completely different thing. I also paid for it, so I was more inclined to like it I suppose!
I took a shower and then watched The Bold Type. It’s an interesting show and I never quite know what is going to happen!
And that is really about it. Tomorrow I have my classes in the afternoon and then I’m cooking dinner again. I’m hoping that it will go well. Wish me luck!
Come back later if you like and hear all about my day. Until tomorrow….
