Saturday - Hot and sunny, with some rain
I woke up this morning when my alarm went off this morning. I didn’t want to get up, but I did! I got half-dressed and waited for F to come back upstairs. He hadn’t been able to go to a doctor today at all, since they were closed due to the Obon holiday.
When he came upstairs we eventually talked about going out. F asked me to pick a place so I gave him a listing of 5 places that I’d be happy to go to. I thought he could then pick the final place, giving him a say and allowing him to pick the budget for example. He refused and got quite nasty about it. I picked one, The Grand El Sun and of course, there was nothing but nasty mutterings about it. Well, you could have picked it. The way I see it is if I have to pick the place, you have to suck it up.
We went to The Grand El Sun and it was nearly empty. We had a lovely if slightly small meal. They had a drink bar going, so I provided F with drinks so he didn’t have to get up. What was surprising and really lovely was that F didn’t have his phone out for the meal. It was so nice to actually talk to my husband for a change and have him talk back to me!
After lunch, we visited the Chido Museum. I have a membership there so it didn’t cost anything today. We went in and checked out the display. It was quite interesting. There were a bunch of things, like a history of the year in sketches that were cool, but my favourite was a huge drawing on fabric. It was a big banner. I was thinking that it would have been difficult for the artist to paint it without making a mistake!
While we were looking at the exhibits, F became a bit unwell so he left and went to the washroom. After a few minutes, we left the museum. F suggested going to the beach to see if there were any good places for us to go fishing later. I wasn’t too sure about that but was okay with it. We got a little on the way and I asked if we could pick up something to drink on the way. I hit up a conbini and F looked at the map or something.
When I came back out to the car, F wasn’t feeling well again. Oh, dear. We gave up the idea to go to the beach. We made a pitstop on the way back to the house and then went back to the house.
We stayed at the house for a while and I took a nap. Around 6 pm F wanted to order dinner from a bento shop. I wasn’t too happy with that idea but decided that since I had a nice lunch, I’d make do. Well, we figured out our order, F called…and they had just closed for the day! Oh, dear.
We decided to go out. F suggested the Kushibiki restaurant and instead of giving them a call wanted to just drive there. I said it would be fine, but I needed to change first. He gave me a nasty look and acted like it would take me half an hour. When I returned to the house, I had changed into shorts. That’s it. I didn’t change anything else, so I was changed in a minute. I’m not sure why the attitude.
We got in the car, the two of us, and drove to Kushibiki. The restaurant was closed today. We drove back to Tsuruoka and I made a couple of suggestions. We tried going to a Chinese-style restaurant, but they only have two tables and they were both occupied. We’d have had to sit on tatami which is hard for F right now. We tried the nearby Thai restaurant and were lucky. We got a table and had a lovely meal. F had a Thai noodle dish and I had gapao rice with chicken. It was good. It was much spicier than the one I make!
After dinner, we tried to get K a bento, but the first place we went to was closed, and then we tried another place. We had a bit of an argument in the store and F got mad at me when I was trying to help him. That is getting a bit much.
When we left the store we met up with F’s sister and her husband and they chatted for a few minutes. It was nice to see her.
We came back to the house and gave K her bento. I came upstairs first. A little later, F came upstairs too. I watched something on TV and tried to watch something on my Fire Stick, but it isn’t working for some reason. Ack. Nothing is happening when I turn it on. I watched a couple of shows on my computer tonight, but I prefer the TV. I did a little crochet tonight too.
And that’s about it really. I had a mostly okay day, but parts of it were really annoying.
I have no idea what we’ll get up to tomorrow, so please come back and find out! Until tomorrow….
