Tuesday - Cloudy and cool

I woke up this morning and the room was empty. I went downstairs and then came back to bed and slept for a couple more hours. I got up around noon and spent a bit of time on my computer.

F came upstairs and was a bit cranky. He asked if I wanted to go out for lunch and then demanded I tell him where I wanted to go. I have a cold and I can’t smell anything. I don’t have that much of an appetite so I told him that. He decided he’d rather go back to bed, which was fine. A few minutes later he suggested sushi. Under other circumstances, I would have said yes, but I have a cold, so the best place doesn’t have separated seats and the sushi goes around in front of us. If I’m sniffy/blowing my nose, it wouldn’t be a good thing. We ended up going to the newest gyudon shop. F had yakiniku and I had kara-age. It was nothing special, but it was okay. I took some cold medicine after I ate, so when I came back to the house, I just went to bed. I had a text session with a friend in Canada who told me about some of his personal bad news. Then, I slept.

I woke up about 3 hours later. I went downstairs and then had a little chat with F. I asked him what he wanted to do about dinner and he didn’t know. Neither did I! We decided to go out and see what we could find that was open. I went upstairs and got dressed again.

We drove around and all of a sudden, we ended up at the Grand El Son. Surprisingly it was open, and even more surprisingly, they let us in. I thought you had to book in the evening…and usually they are closed on Tuesdays.

We both had pasta. I had the daily special which was squid, cabbage and anchovy in an olive oil sauce. It came with a small starter and coffee or tea. F had something that I almost had, fettucine with a cream meat sauce. He didn’t like his much, I thought mine was very nice. We both finished our meals with tea and then we left. F bought me a box of tea on the way out, English Breakfast Tea so that was nice!

Next up, we visited Tsuruoka Park and did our Hatsumode at the Shrine. We were able to park in the close parking lot, the one that is usually used for buses and handicapped people. We walked up to the shrine and did our little thing. It was nice. Last year the weather was horrible and F’s knees were so bad that he couldn’t walk very far so we didn’t do it.

We came back to the house and relaxed. I did ask F if he’d like to watch a movie with me, but he wouldn’t. No worries, I watched some TV of my own. I watched a lot tonight! I watched another episode of Deadloch, then The Closer. I followed that up with Still Up. The season just finished, I hope there’ll be more of that series. Lastly, I put on the Hannah Waddington Christmas Special on Apple TV+. It was quite good and I realized how much I miss things like Christmas Specials.

I enjoyed watching TV tonight. When the special was over, I turned off the TV and then I turned on YouTube. It’s been a nice night, but it is quite quiet. It has been better than yesterday, that’s for sure.

I’m feeling okay, but not great. My nose is a bit plugged up now, it was running earlier today.

Tomorrow is F’s last day off, so I hope that we get to do something fun. Come back later and find out if we do. Until tomorrow….
