Sunday - Hot and sunny

I slept in this morning and it was wonderful. I did wake up a bit after 9am, then went back to bed for a while longer. I finally dragged myself out of bed around 11 am. F had come back into the room and suggested going for lunch. However, he hadn’t fed his mother yet, so he went downstairs to do that, while I got up and dressed.

F had suggested one place to go, but when he checked to see if it was really open (not just open on a website that hasn’t been updated in ages…) it wasn’t. We both suggested going to the newish restaurant in Yunohama so that’s what we did. We were lucky enough to be able to get right in. We had a nice meal. F had the crab quiche and I had the clam and leek pasta. That was very nice. I love their salads too. We had salad, a main, a drink and dessert there and it was all nice. Mine did have sun-dried tomatoes on it, so I removed them. 

We left after we finished eating and I suggested going for a drive down the coast if F was okay with it. He was. We drove down to Yura and stopped at a small beach that had steps down to the beach. We crossed the road and went down. We didn’t walk very far and I didn’t get to go paddling, but it was nice to be by the sea after so long. I couldn’t let F go to the ocean last year as he was on crutches for some of the time and had bad knees. Even today, it was very hard to walk on the sand so he wouldn’t have been too happy. 

We were on our way back to Tsuruoka when F announced that he wanted to go to a cafe near Mt. Chokai. Chokai was rather far away from where we were. Since the cafe closed at 5 and it was 3 something at that time, F was debating about taking the highway or not. It only cost ¥220 and would save us about 30 minutes so I thought it was a no-brainer. We took the highway.

We got to the cafe and parked. We went in and had drinks. F had a coffee and I had a pot of tea. I got two and a half cups of tea that way, no milk, but it was still nice. We looked at the art, we drank our drinks and then we headed back to Tsuruoka. 

We did some shopping first. I got groceries and F came in the shop with me. Sigh. I wish he wouldn’t! I forgot to get my instant decaf coffee and I won’t be able to get any more until Tuesday now. Boo!

After the grocery store, I went to Gyomu Super and picked up a few things. Unfortunately, they didn’t have some of the stuff I was looking for like Horseradish mayo and chocolate. Oh well. I got a few things and then went back to the car. We went back to the house and F gave K her new bento and I put the groceries away. I also took some of the food upstairs to be distributed later!

F and I went out for our dinner next. I suggested going to Coco’s because I was jonesing for the drink bar. We got nearby and of course, F saw the nice Japanese restaurant that was nearby and decided to take us there instead. I wasn’t happy. I like the restaurant, I really do, but I didn’t want Japanese food tonight and I wanted to have some decaf coffee drinks. He keeps pulling this crap on me too. He’s done the same thing quite a few times lately. I’ve asked for a restaurant and at the last minute he switches to something else. 

I wasn’t happy. I had my usual dish, hot soba with duck. It was good, but it just wasn’t what I wanted to eat today. F had tempura on rice, I’m not sure why he would go to a soba and udon restaurant and not have those, but whatever. 

After dinner, I went to another grocery store to buy my cereal. I hadn’t realized at this point that I had forgotten my decaf coffee! I got the cereal and another sandwich for K since I had accidentally torn the wrapper on the one I got her earlier. 

F and I came back to the house and then came upstairs.  I watched an episode of Fringe and it was excellent. It was half in animation and half in the real actors. Some of the characters had to take LSD to help Olivia come back to the real world. One character accidentally was exposed to it and it was quite funny. I laughed a lot at this episode and really enjoyed it.

After Fringe was over, I watched an episode of Dick Turpin on Apple. It was quite funny. I liked it more than the first episode. I’m still not sure if I’ll keep watching or not. 

F had gone to bed while I was watching Dick Turpin, so I turned off the TV and turned on some YouTube. I did a few things on the net and my phone and then I think you are up to date with me now. 

I had a really lovely day until F did his switcheroo and although it annoyed me it didn’t quite ruin the day. Not quite.
