Sunday - Hot and Sunny

Today was a surprisingly good day. I didn’t know what to expect when I woke up this morning, but it was fine.

I got up first around 8:30. F wasn’t in the house. I went downstairs and then came back upstairs, changed my clothes a bit and then went back for a snooze. I woke up again after 11am. I got up, went downstairs and talked to F. He was fine, just chillin’ downstairs.

I got dressed and a little later F came up and suggested going to a restaurant in Amarume. I was fine with it, he said it was an Italian place and I was up for some pasta. We got in the car and drove off.

After a bit, we arrived in Amarume and found the restaurant. The only problem, it wasn’t open. I had asked F to check before we left the house. He didn’t. In the same parking lot, there was another restaurant and we thought we’d go there. However, I noticed the sign on the door saying, “Order Stop”. F barged in past it and didn’t notice the two signs that said they were closing! He asked a waitress and she said they were closed.

We got back in the car and F suggested going to a restaurant in Sakata. I said sure. At this point, I was quite hungry and I really didn’t want to fight about it!

When we got into Sakata, I checked Google Maps and discovered that the place F wanted to take me was closed today. Oh dear. I suggested trying the food court over by the harbour and F of course, jumped at the chance!

We parked at the port and went into the food court area. F headed for the Japanese kiosks, but I headed for the Fish and Chips store. I did tell F that we should get a table first as it was so busy in there. We found one, and then moved later as another area became available.

I went to Friedland and ordered Fish and Chips. I ordered a blueberry lassi with it, which was a little more expensive. I waited for my food while F went off and ordered his. Mine was ready quickly and I brought it back to the table. It was fab! It’s been ages since I’ve had Fish and Chips, British style and this was very good. It wasn’t the best ever, but it really hit the spot for me!

Fish and chips...and a lassi made with Shonai blueberries.

Poor F though. He ordered from a very popular place and they were a tad slow. He had to wait more than half an hour for his food. He’d ordered some squid that came with roasted beef, rice and soup. He liked it a lot when it finally was ready.

After lunch, we left the port area. We made a pit stop at a drugstore and then drove back to Tsuruoka. We did some grocery shopping and I picked up the groceries for the next few days. After that, we made a stop at Gyomu Supa. I picked up some snacks and some frozen food too. We came back to the house and I unpacked the food.

I went upstairs and it was so hot. Our room was around 28 degrees. Yuck. I stripped off all outside clothing and put my fan on myself to cool off. We stayed here for a while.

Around 7:30, F asked if I wanted to go for dinner. He said he wasn’t hungry. I had sort of hoped to join a video meeting, but that went out the window. Since he wasn’t going to be eating, I figured why not go to Gusto. I don’t mind it and F could have a dessert and drink bar if he wanted.

We drove out there and went in. We got a seat right away and F for some reason, didn’t put the tablet in English. Okay, I can manage, so not a huge deal. He decided to have two starters, I had a meal and a salad with it and we both had drink bar. The food was fine, the drink bar was fine and we left somewhere around 9pm.

F wanted to hit up a drugstore for some medicine for himself so we stopped at one. I stayed in the car. I was tired.

We came back to the house and relaxed upstairs. It wasn’t quite as hot, so that was good. It was 26 degrees though.

I watched a bit of YouTube and then decided I’d watch a movie. I watched something off Prime, Operation Fortune. Despite having my boo Jason Statham in it, the movie was horrible. I started playing games on my phone during it, it just wasn’t holding my interest. Of course, it was a Guy Ritchie film. I just don’t get him as a movie maker. There aren’t many of his films that I even like. Definitely not this one. Sorry Jason.

I turned off the TV at midnight and F was snoozing already. He’s got a big driving assignment tomorrow.

Anyway, since midnight, I’ve been watching YouTube and catching up with all things Internet. I even had a little text thing with an old friend.

So, that’s it. Tomorrow I’m back on dinner duty. I have so enjoyed these 4 days with no cooking and cleaning up afterwards. Now I have to pay for them!

Come back later if you like and hear all about my day. Until tomorrow….
