Saturday - Hot and Sunny
I woke up around 8 am this morning. I had gone to bed quite late, so I was surprised to wake up that early. F was still sleeping, surprisingly. F had gone to bed early last night, but woke up in the middle of the night and didn’t sleep for a while.
I went downstairs and then when I came back upstairs, I turned on the AC and woke F up. He didn’t know what time it was. He had to take his mother to her Day Care and before she went, he needed to feed her.
He got up and I went back to sleep! I slept for a while and then F came back upstairs. He made a reservation for our lunch, so I had to get up and get dressed.
We drove off to Mikawa and had lunch at a new restaurant for us. It was a Japanese/Italian fusion place and it was really good. We started off with pasta…we had to ask them to change our pasta to something without tomato. The chef very nicely offered to make us carbonara, which we accepted. It was lovely. Our second course was grilled mackerel with a light curry sauce. That was lovely. I’m not a huge fan of mackerel, but I enjoyed this very much. Our next course was a meat course. We had pork medallions with a mustard-green onion sauce. It was good, but the sauce was a tad overpowering. I really would have liked the sauce to be on the side rather than all over the pork. That part came with some roasted potato, salad and a bit of risotto. It was very nice, but the sauce, too strong. We finished up with iced coffee.
When we left, I suggested going to the Mall nearby and having ice cream at Baskin Robbins. F liked that idea so off we went. We both had small doubles. I had Hoji-cha Brulee and Jamoca Almond Fudge and F had Hoji-Cha Brulee and Gold Medal or something. They were all good.
We came back to the house afterwards and I came upstairs to our hot bedroom. After K was brought back, F texted me that he wasn’t feeling well. Great. Just great. I suggested he take some medicine, which I think he did. Then, a while later, he came upstairs and said he couldn’t go to the early show because he was feeling dizzy. Sigh. I got a bit annoyed. Honestly, he does this so often on Saturdays. I don’t know why he gets sick on the weekends. The bad thing about the movie I wanted to see is that it wasn’t playing in the morning or early afternoon, just the evening, so I needed F to go and see it with me. Lately, the movies in English at the cinema have only been there for one week, it’s rather annoying. I thought tonight might be my only chance to see it.
F had a lie-down on the bed and after a while I joined him. It sucks to feel bad and have your partner mad at you for it, so I just chilled and let him know that it didn’t matter too much.
Around 7:30, F asked if I still wanted to go. He said that he might just wait outside the cinema for me. I didn’t really like that idea, so I let him know that it was a fun movie, not a serious one and he said he’d come in with me.
We drove over to the Mall in Mikawa again. It was firework night tonight so there were people all over the sidewalks watching the fireworks. We saw a few from the road and it was nice.
At the mall, we bought our tickets. We had about 25 minutes before the movie, so I suggested going to Doutor and getting sandwiches since we hadn’t eaten. F had a hotdog and I had a beef sandwich.
We went back upstairs and bought our popcorn and drinks and then went to see The Fall Guy. I used to watch the TV show when I was younger and I liked it a lot. The movie was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed it. I don’t know why it wasn’t very popular, but it was great fun.
After the movie, we drove back to Tsuruoka. I was a little peckish, so we went to a gyudon shop for a late night snack. While we were there, K called F and told him to come home soon. He can’t really talk to her on the phone because she’s deaf and can’t hear him. It is ridiculous though, we’re both quite old, old enough that we don’t need to be told when to come home!
We left the restaurant when we finished. When we got to the house the lights were on and we went in. K was in the washroom, so F just sneaked on in and went upstairs. I was shocked. I wasn’t as fast, so when K came out she was surprised to see me. She started in on me, asked me where F was. I told her he was upstairs and then I started to go upstairs too. She was saying stuff to me that of course I didn’t understand, so F ended up coming down and talking to her. It was a little funny.
Upstairs, I turned on the AC and started to relax for the evening. I turned on my computer and did some blogging too.
And now… you are up to date. I did get to see my movie after all, and I enjoyed it a lot. We had a nice lunch and a very late dinner.
Come back later if you like and hear all about my day. Until tomorrow….
