Monday - Hot and sunny, nice day

I went to bed terribly late last night. I just couldn’t get my act together and go to bed. When I did get to bed, F had woken up and was a bit noisy. I ended up putting my earplugs in again.

I managed to sleep in a bit this morning and it was almost not morning when I got up. I eventually got dressed and F and I talked about what to eat for lunch. He wanted to go to Kintaro Sushi. I wasn’t too enthusiastic because I thought it would be busy and our dinner tonight would be a lot of fish. Still, I agreed to try it.

We went out and got in the car and drove off. F drove us by Kintaro but it was busy as I thought. It’s a great place and on a national holiday it gets slammed. Our next two places were either closed or busy, so F took us to Narumi. It’s a Japanese soba and udon place. I used to love it, but he’s been making me go there too much. The last time we went the food wasn’t good and honestly, I just wasn’t wanting Japanese food for lunch today.

We went and the food was fine. F wouldn’t help me with the menu…I don’t often need help, but this was all handwritten so it is a little hard for me to decipher. I had to get a little sarcastic to get him to help me. I wasn’t feeling it at all. However, my food was good today and I did enjoy it. F, as I expected he would, got the vapours after lunch and wanted to go back to the house. To do him justice, he did offer to drop me somewhere first, but where would I be able to go on a national holiday?

We came back to the house and he spent too much time downstairs. I went upstairs and did my everyday thing of internet and my computer. F finally tried to book a taxi for tonight, but his preferred company was too busy for when we needed the cab. I asked him to book a taxi a few days ago so I wasn’t too pleased. He called another company and told them that we needed to be at our restaurant at 7:00pm. I thought he was crazy and had suggested he say that we needed the cab at 6:40 or so. He knew better.

Around 6pm I got dressed. I didn’t get too glam tonight. I wore a denim dress that I got last year with a pair of grey leggings under it. I wore my usual running shoes thinking that I’d be taking them off anyway!

Well, F went outside around 6:30 or so and sat in our car. I joined him a few minutes later. We were waiting for the taxi. It didn’t come. Finally around 6:50 or so, F called the company to see what happened. They thought he wanted to be picked up at 7 pm. Honestly, I told him that he should order a certain time but he knew better. I’m the person that has taken more taxis than he has…for work. You set a time for pick up, not let off!

The taxi arrived a couple of minutes later happily and we got in and drove to the restaurant. Of course we were slightly late, but were seated right away. We didn’t have to take off our shoes tonight as our room didn’t have tatami.

We had a lovely meal at Susune tonight. I’ll post a few pictures of our food. However, there was one bad thing about the room we ate in. One wall wasn’t solid, it had bars and was covered by a screen. That meant that we could hear everything that happened in the kitchen which was next to us. There was great crashings of trays and dishes that it was quite annoying and very distracting. It didn’t quite ruin our meal, but it didn’t help. F and I did have some drinks with our meal. He had a beer and then a bottle of sake, I had an umeshu and a small amount of his sake. I didn’t like either that much. Usually I like umeshu, but I wasn’t a big fan of the one I had.

Tsukimi decorations for Moon Viewing

Sashimi and mushrooms

Tempura course

Vegetable stew

Grilled Fish, and a few extras

Desserts! Tiramisu, ice cream and fruit in jelly

After our meal, we called another taxi and went back to the house. We did discuss walking to the nearby Starbucks, but in the end we decided to go back. I know that F isn’t in great shape and he’s been drinking so I didn’t want to hang out for long.

Back at the house I took off my nice clothes and put on my pyjamas. I spent more time on my computer and later on watched the last episode of Schmigadoon!. It was okay. I’m not as upset as others that it was cancelled.

And that’s it for my day. That was our 23rd anniversary day. F is off work tomorrow too and I’m a little worried about what we’ll do. We haven’t made any concrete plans. I will have to buy food for the next few days as I’ll have to stop being a lady of leisure until the weekend!

Come back later if you like and hear all about my day. Until tomorrow….

Happy anniversary! From one old(ish) married lady to another, marriage is a long road with many ups and downs, but it's worth it!
