Friday - Rainy and cool
I went to bed early again last night, but for a change, I used my earplugs. It meant that I managed to sleep mostly through the night. I went downstairs around 7:30 but went back to bed for a while. F made his mother breakfast and then came back to bed for a few minutes. I suggested that he make his way off to the doctor as he originally planned and he agreed and left a little later.
I snoozed for a bit, but got up and dressed. When F came back around 12:30 we talked about lunch. He had no ideas as usual so I suggested Okazaki, his favourite fish place. We drove over there but unfortunately, they weren’t serving lunch today. Darn! F suggested another fish place that we’ve gone to recently, so he drove there. We were able to get in, but we did have to sit on the floor on tatami. Oh well. We managed.
We had a nice but not great lunch. I was quite sad that F spent the whole time watching YouTube videos while we were eating. That was rather sad. I even pointed it out to him that we don’t get to eat together that often and he was wasting it by not talking to me. YouTube is a strange mistress I guess.
We went to city hall when we finished lunch. I wanted to change my MyNumber card’s PIN. We did that, and the woman also put my health insurance card on that card. I’m less than sure about that one if I’m honest. I don’t want to carry that stupid card around.
Next up, we went for a drink to Komeda Coffee. It was busy, but we got a nice little seat in a corner. We had a nice time, but again F and I if I’m honest, spent most of the time on our phones.
I hit up a drugstore next where I got a few things for the house and a few more for myself. Next up, we came back to the house and relaxed for a while. F wasn’t feeling that well, and he was tired too.
F did rest a bit, but ended up going downstairs to make his mother some dinner. When he came upstairs he asked me what I wanted for dinner. I suggested getting yakitori for dinner. F liked that idea so he called and made an order. F also picked up a couple of envelopes at the convenience store and I got some salad for myself. Then we went to the yakitori place and picked up our order. The parking area was in a huge mess and it took ages before we were able to find a place to park and get our food.
We came back to the house and F and I had our feast in our room. It was very good, but it was a little too cold in my opinion. We both relaxed. F had a couple of drinks, I had some tea.
I had a shower later on and then watched an episode of Ted Lasso. I think it was the second last one. I’ve heard there will be more, I hope so. It was really good and I laughed a lot.
F has gone to bed. He has to go out in the morning with his mother to go to his uncle’s one year memorial service. It’s also F’s birthday and I feel bad because I don’t have a present for him at all. Sigh. He did say he didn’t want anything though.
I’m not sure what I’m going to get up to. I might go out in the morning if I can get my act together, but the weather is supposed to be horrible so I might just stay in. I’m hoping that the two of us will go to a movie in Tsuruoka tomorrow night. It’s a movie about wrestling, which F is very into.
Anyway, come back later if you like and hear all about my day. Until tomorrow….

Hi Helen! Could you surprise F for his birthday with a premium YouTube membership so he could go ad free? That might a blessing and a curse though.
We had to ban phones at the dinner table, otherwise we'd both spend too much time on them. It started because my husband's sister has some kind of uncanny knack for texting as soon as we sit down to eat. Like, literally as we sat, his phone would ping and it would be her. It's like her superpower, lol. Therefore, no phones!
Hope you get to enjoy a movie tomorrow!
Hey! Thanks for commenting. I have thought about getting a family membership for us but for just the two of us it seems a bit expensive.
I'm not sure I want to encourage F to watch more YouTube. He recently discovered how expensive it is to watch YouTube while he's on cellular and is regretting it now!
At our apartment I had the rule that we didn't watch TV while we ate, but here the TV is constantly on. F is watching his phone the whole time and I'm too knackered after cooking to fight with him about it.
I do get a little upset when we're out for coffee or a meal and he's on his phone the whole time. It's rude and I don't think he's actually paying attention to what he is eating.
I watch a lot of YouTube too, but not usually when I'm out and about.
