Sunday - Cloudy and cooler
I managed to drag myself out of bed this morning at a reasonable time. I got dressed and when F came up to the room to talk about lunch I was ready to talk. He suggested going to a new place in Oyama that I’ve been talking about. We passed it yesterday and it looked interesting.
I’m always up for finding a new place so we drove out to Oyama (a suburb of Tsuruoka) and found the restaurant. We went in. Sadly, the pasta of the day was mushroom with tomato sauce, so that was out. Darn! They also had curry and since I was still feeling bad from last night’s curry, I didn’t want that. They had a kara-age lunch special so I had that. Yes, I had kara-age last night too. F had the same lunch special except he had two pieces of chicken, I had four. He’d had breakfast already, I hadn’t.
The meal, when it arrived, was good. We both liked it a lot. After we were finished, the chef came over to talk to us. He’d worked at a restaurant that we’d visited a couple of times and remembered us. F asked if he ever did non-tomato pasta sauces and he said that if we called in advance, I could have other kinds of pasta sauce, so that would be good!
We left the restaurant and then came back to Tsuruoka. We were planning to go and see Good Will Hunting at 2:10. We went to a nearby drugstore to get drinks and then went to the cinema. I had hoped it would be busy for the cinema, but it wasn’t that busy.
We saw the movie and it was great. I had seen it in Japan with a former manager of mine in Fukushima I think and it was great. I think I enjoyed it more today. I’ve seen it before of course, but the audience was quiet and the sound was good, so I caught more dialogue. F had never seen it before and he did enjoy it. I’m glad that he did as I told him he would, but he was nearly asleep before the movie started.
After our movie F wanted to buy shoes, so we went to our shoe store. It was closed! It looks like they are renovating for now. We went somewhere else and F found a pair of shoes he liked. They are the same ones he already had…But the store didn’t have his size. He ordered his shoes and they should be in this week.
We did some grocery shopping and F came in the shop with me. Boo! I just dislike shopping with him so much. He is never where I need him to be and he gets in my way. He has no opinion on things I want to buy, so it gets old fast. We got everything shopped for and hopefully we’ll have some decent meals for the next couple of days.
We came back to the house and put the groceries away. F was in my way for that too! I left the stuff for K’s dinner out on the table and took my stuff upstairs.
A while later, F came up and eventually talked about dinner. I told him that I wanted pasta and I could get some at either Gusto or Cocos or somewhere more expensive. He picked Gusto.
We drove over to Gusto and had our meal. F had misplaced his phone before we left and didn’t bring it. He was bereft. In solidarity I didn’t use mine very much. I had the carbonara pasta with mushrooms and sliced ham and it was excellent. I really liked it a lot. I had a miniscule salad with it too. F had a pork cutlet donburi which he complained about, so same as usual then.
We came back to the house around 9:30pm. I watched the end of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and later on some shows off Apple TV. I saw an episode of The Big Door Prize and then what I think is the last episode of Mythic Quest. It was quite good, but also underwhelming. It felt more like going out on a whimper.
I have watched some YouTube since the TV went off and worked on my end of day stuff.
Tomorrow I should do laundry, but will I? I have to cook dinner again and sort out the garbage and such. Anyway, today was a pretty good day! Come back later if you like and hear all about my Monday. Until tomorrow….
