Thursday - Cold and snowy
Well, New Year’s Eve day was quiet. F wanted to go out to the grocery store and this time I insisted on going out with him. He seemed surprised that I wanted to go out!
We had a very quiet day really. F made dinner and it was okay. We had soba with a salad and I think there was something else but I’m not sure what.
After dinner, F stayed downstairs and I went upstairs. He came upstairs around 11 and I was watching something on the Fire Stick. My computer ticked over past midnight and I wished F a happy new year! We didn’t walk out to the shrine last night. We had a huge dump of snow overnight and I didn’t want to risk walking over to the shrine in the dark.
Today, I slept quite late and F brought up my nengajo. I got two. I was rather sad. I sent out about 15 and only received 2. I think people just aren’t sending them these days, plus, I hadn’t sent any for the last two years due to people in my family dying so I guess it makes sense.
I got up and we had lunch. We had ordered sushi and it came fairly early this morning. F made miso soup and we got his mother up. We ate our sushi and it was very nice.
After lunch, I took the dishes to the kitchen and I washed them. After a washroom trip, I ended up going outside and shovelling snow. Now, F had done something that annoyed me! I asked him to leave the snow scoop in the house so that we can dig ourselves out if necessary. It was necessary today, but F had left it outside and I had to get through knee high snow to get it and the snow dump. I got started on shovelling snow and I got quite a bit done. The snow was light and soft for the most part so it wasn’t too difficult.
I got the snow moved from in front of the door, and then I cleared F’s side of the car and went onto the road. The snow plough had gone by twice so there was a bit of snow in front of the car. I got most of it moved when F came outside. He didn’t know where I was. He was surprised that I had done so much, and started to help. I gave him the snow dump and he moved some of the snow. He didn’t have gloves though, so I kept telling him to get some! He couldn’t find them.
Anyway, when we finished I invited him upstairs for some cocoa, but he suggested going over to Komeda Coffee. I wasn’t dressed for leaving the house area so I went to change and then we set off.
We managed to get a parking space at Komeda and went in. We had their cake set so I had a decaf coffee and cake, F had American Blend coffee and cake. We enjoyed our time there, but left around 4:30.
We went over to the MaxValu and went in. F bought some ingredients for dinner and I added a few things too. Then, we went through the checkout. F had to do it all by himself today as the position meant I couldn’t get in to help him bag the groceries.
We came back to the house and I went upstairs. I did ask F if he needed my help, but he said he didn’t. I relaxed for a while but around 6:30 I ended up going downstairs to see if he needed my help. He did, so I did a few things. I mixed the salad and put out the drinks. F had made tonjiro or pork soup and to be fair, it was pretty good! He’d also made an omelette and I added in the salad, so we had a pretty good meal.
After dinner I asked F if he’d like me to help him but he said no. That was nice for me! I went upstairs and relaxed. F came upstairs and he relaxed too.
Around 10:30 or so I went downstairs and took a shower. After I took mine, F took his. It was cold downstairs but I really needed a shower!
When I came back upstairs to the room I watched the second episode of Pluribus. It was….interesting. I’m not completely sure if I like the show or not. I think I’ll keep watching as I’ve heard it takes a few episodes before people get into it.
And that’s about it for today.
Tomorrow I’m hoping we can go out to the mall and see the new Jason Statham movie. I’ve heard bad things, but it’s Jason so I really don’t care!
Come back later if you like and hear all about my day. Until tomorrow….
