Sunday - Warm but a bit muggy

I got up this morning, went downstairs and then came back upstairs and went back to bed. I slept on for a while and woke up and then got up after 11. I went downstairs again and this time I asked F if he’d like to go and see the movie at 1:30. He said yes, so I went upstairs and got changed into my going out clothes.

F made his mother some lunch first and then we left to have ours. We went to a gyudon shop on the way to the cinema. It was okay. I’m not a huge fan of gyudon, but I needed something fast and filling.

We got to the cinema about 25 minutes early. The concession line was huge so F gave me money, I went and bought tickets and he went to the washroom. He got into line when he came back. We talked about skipping the drinks, but I was parched and desperately needed a drink. I gave F his ticket and then I went in and used the washroom. I sat in my seat and waited for F. He was able to come in just a few minutes after the film started. We went to see Rental Family today and it was good. I was hoping that the Japanese in the film would be subtitled, but it wasn’t. I guess they thought that nobody in Japan would see it without knowing Japanese. Well, they didn’t count on me! To be fair, I did understand most of it from the actions that people did, but I didn’t get some of the actual nuances. I liked the film a lot. It wasn’t the same old action movie, we both liked it a lot.

After the movie we went over to Mr. Donut and had some coffee and a donut. They have decaf now so I could have a cup. F had a second cup so I went off to the grocery store and grabbed some garlic powder and a few things from the snack section. I paid and left. I was going to go back to the Food Court to meet up with F but I saw him on his way to the washroom. We had a nice reunion and both headed to the washroom. On the way we bumped into a friend of a friend, he’s also the boss of a friend so that was interesting!

We left the mall a few minutes later and drove into Tsuruoka. We went to Mina and went shopping for groceries. I picked up a few things, well, a basketful of things. I got things for dinner, lunches and breakfasts. I hope I got enough. F came in with me and was okay today.

We checked out and then came back to the house. F gave his mother her bento and stayed downstairs to watch TV or something. I came upstairs and spent time on my computer. I relaxed and drank some cocoa.

Some time after 7pm we started talking about dinner. F’s one idea was already closed yet when I asked if he had other ideas he said that I always hated his ideas so he wasn’t going to give me any. That is just not true. The restaurant he talked about closes at 7pm. It was after 7 when he suggested it.

Finally I suggested the new Taiwanese restaurant I like and F agreed. We went there and it was nearly empty! We had a nice meal, well, I did. I had the yurinchi chicken again and F tried Taiwanese ramen with a veggie side dish on rice. He hated the ramen. Why does he keep trying…he only likes certain Japanese noodles!

We left the restaurant after a bit and came back to the house. I decided to go upstairs and watch a movie, F decided to stay downstairs and watch the Olympics recap!

I had originally planned to watch Sinners tonight but then changed my mind and went for Downton Abbey: A New Era instead. What happened was that I just decided I wanted to see Downton Abbey. My local cinema will bring the third movie next week and I hadn’t watched the second one yet. Well, I remedied that now.

The movie was great! F came back upstairs just before it ended and for some reason didn’t make too much noise. He did make some, but I was able to ignore it. After the movie finished we spent a few minutes together and then I went downstairs.

So, that’s about it. Tonight I also worked on my loom knitted hat and I enjoyed it too. It’s quite long now, but I’m not sure how long I need to make it.

Come back later if you like and hear all about my day. Until tomorrow….
