Sunday - Sunny but cool
I woke up this morning quite late, but I didn’t get up right away. I slept for a little longer. I went downstairs and then went for a longer sleep. F was still in bed too, so it wasn’t a bad thing.
We finally dragged ourselves out of the house and went over to Cocos. They have a free birthday dessert if you have a birthday in that month so I suggested F go for it today. I also had a couple of coupons on my app. I got a very cheap drink bar and free french fries, so hurray for that. We both ate too much and waddled out of there a little later.
We did some grocery shopping. I got chicken for dinner tomorrow night, no big deal. After we bought our groceries for tomorrow night, we went over to Gyomu Supa and I went in by myself. I picked up a few things, mainly things like tortillas, but also some things for Christmas and me.
We brought everything back to the house. I put away the groceries and took things up to our room. F put the kerosene tanks in the car and off we went. First, we went to a drugstore where I got a few things for the house. We picked up some kerosene at the gas station and then hit up another drugstore since I couldn’t get what I wanted at the first store. I made F stay in the car for that one!
We got back to the house and came into the house. I realized at one point that F hadn’t brought the kerosene into the house yet so I reminded him.
I went upstairs. F did ask me around 8 pm if I wanted to go for dinner, but I was still quite full from lunch. I reminded him that we had brought something for our dinner. I went downstairs, heated up the chicken and then brought it up to eat. It was nice that we didn’t have to go out again and do the meal out thing.
I watched a few things on AppleTV+ tonight. I caught another episode of Bad Sisters and watched the first of the new season of Mythic Quest.
And really, that’s about it for me for tonight. Tomorrow I’m back to the usual daily stuff. Maybe I’ll even work on my column. I hope so!
Come back later if you will, and hear all about my day. Until tomorrow….

How are the overall prices in Japan? Do you feel like there is any crisis or that food or heating/electricity went up? Or nothing much has changed? In the States, they said on TV that cost of the Thanksgiving dinner went up about 20 %, I think, and that in some cases it may be cheaper to eat out! Many people struggle.
Things are already quite expensive here, but yes, prices are rising. I think the government is subsidizing the gasoline/kerosene costs, but some things are really expensive these days. I've noticed a lot of meat has gone up in price. I never buy steaks or expensive cuts of other meats anyway, but now they just seem crazy high.
There's been a lot of sizes getting smaller - I noticed a container of yogurt that used to be 450g is now 430g...same price, but less.
Despite us eating out a lot on weekends, we aren't going to expensive places usually and we don't have to tip so that instantly makes things more reasonable!
I don't get the electricity bills here as it isn't my house, so can't much comment on that. I imagine they are going up. I do try to be more mindful of the costs.
There is more struggling and I'm sure there will be more of it as we slip into winter.
Yes- I've noticed that too: containers or portions being smaller for the same price!
And winter is going to be very tricky, definitely. Crazy times.
Going to knit many blankets for my cats- the best coping skill ever! :)
